A bellwether in the vegan food industry is getting a raw deal on Wall Street.
Beyond Meat — once worth $7.8billion — is now almost worthless after an attempt to tackle its debt got the thumbs down from investors.
The near collapse of Beyond isn't just a blow for the company itself — it's a clear symptom of the wider vegan food industry.
As the poster child for plant-based meat, analysts say its struggles underline the sector's core problems: limited consumer demand, high prices, and products that often fail to deliver on taste or convenience.
Beyond's stock plunged 50 percent Monday after the company announced a sweeping plan to swap its old debt for new loans and issue hundreds of millions of new shares.
The move gives the plant-based meat maker more time to pay its bills — but it also means investors now own a smaller slice of the company.
Today's slump marks the second major drop in just over two weeks. On September 28, the company's share price crashed 35 percent after the CEO tried to ask for more money from investors.
Together, the two drops have erased much of the company’s value. It is now worth just $79million. The fake meat brand, once promoted by Kim Kardashian and model Nicole Williams-English, is also burdened with about $800 million in debt and struggling to stay afloat.
'Beyond Meat suffers from taste and texture issues, high prices, and perhaps an "ultra-processed food" image,' Jerry Thomas, the CEO of Decision Analyst, told the Daily Mail. 'The chances of the company surviving are meager.'

No Girls with strap-on meat pretending to be boys, or boys cutting off their meat pretending to be girls either.
Nuff said
I tried “Beyond Meat” when it first came out. One bite was enough. Reqired a Barf Alert.
No fake meat, no fake butter, no genetically modified cows, no murderous Bill Gates anything.
Whole food, whole people.
Per the article, their food has bad taste and bad texture. Other than those things, it’s great

There was a cooler full of the fake stuff in a stripped grocery store on the first day of Covid panic food buying. That was indicative. I am surprised it took this long to come to reality.
Me too. If it was any good, the vegans would have been snapping it up.
People who want to eat this stuff are welcome to do so, as far I am concerned.
Just means more meat for me!
Regards,
I remember when they first started pushing that slop. Supermarkets promoted it heavily, displayed it prominently. I think thouhg folks got freaked out about the process to make the slop- was nasty sounding. Not natural. I never did try it beczuse of the ingredient lists.
I keep seeing Guy Fiety (sp?) On diners driveins and dives featur8ng some vegan stuff that he swears -taste so close to meat you wont be abke to tell its not meat” but i seriously doubt that. Especially when they add that nasty tofu into whatever fake meat concoction they create. It’d take some seriously good cooking wizardry to convincing to make me think it tasted “just l8ke meat”

In 2012, Gardenburger sold five types of veggie burgers: Veggie medley (vegan), The Original (vegetarian), Black Bean Chipotle Veggie Burger (vegan), Sun-Dried Tomato Basil (vegetarian), and Portabella (vegetarian).[6]
Nothing in that list even remotely looks, smells, tastes like meat. It might taste ok, but “better than meat burgers”? I f8nd it hard to beleive. If someone jusy doesnt like meat, then yeah, i can see them saying that- but for z meat eater to say they?
[[and perhaps an “ultra-processed food” image,’]]
There’s no “perhaps” about it. Its fake lab grown food, and its got crap in it that is better suited to lab experiments than to table fare!
Q: Why do these fools try to replace the natural, 4-legged meat factories?
A: ‘Cause they be fools + fanatics.
I have actually let an arrow fly into the boilerhouse of a gemmsbock antelope in front of the greatness of My Uncle Ted Nugent. That being said, there is a very awesome Buddhist Temple on Loop12 in irving/Dallas that has a spectacular vegetarian buffet. You don’t even have to pay for it. It’s all donations.
It is more a protein substitute than meat substitute. And it doesn’t taste like much of anything. You’re supposed to season it. Get fake ground meat for tacos, you add taco seasoning to it. Not too many people eat raw meat without seasoning it either. Ever had plain boiled chicken?
Beyond Meat is going down like any other business who used leverage to grow too quickly. Anyone remember Boston Markets?
They’re coming for our dogs and cats.

Got news for you when you find out what kind of hormones and crap get injected into meat.
