Very surprised and disappointed that Governor Abbott failed to sign a bill that would have stopped having "Cannabis" legal in Texas.and millions of pot shops popping up on every street corner. Not to mention all the crime that goes hand and hand with weed legalization.
IIRC, Trump seemed fine with recreational passing in FL last year (even though it didn’t)
Major revenue in collected taxes.
The government is the biggest drug dealer in the world. They have an army of cops, they skim more profits than the creators of the products and make exceptions for themselves in it’s distribution (like Pennsylvania)
Yep. Disappointing.
Welcome to Free Republic!
I’m thankful it failed. But I understand why Trump is for it. He’s a money person first and he sees it as a revenue source for state and most likely eventually federal.
Do you even know what the law was about. It was not about weed. Texas only allows the sale of 0.3% THC products this was to make those illegal too.
You cannot get high off 0.3% at that level it’s for medical use. Like lupus or IBS or chemo.
If Texas had referendum voting 70 percent would vote on favor of recreational use the only reason it is not legal is we don’t have referendum..
It’s moot the largest cities on Texas went around the state and decriminalized from one ounce to a quarter pound on your person. 25 of 30 million Texans live in cities that have decriminalized.
Abbot knew not to anger the 3/4 of registered voters who opposed this bill..
I doubt it.
Welcome to FR.
Doubt it at your peril. In an off-year election, with a hot-button lefty issue on the ballot, the 30 % of eligible voters that actually show up to vote will do crazy things, in unvelievable numbers. Then, the crazy judges take over.
Thank you——so true!
Sadly a lot of the people with medical cards get the stuff and use it for recreational use! It creates bad driving and raises crime problems!
Of all the Texas Governors since the mid 90’s Abbott has for sure been the most disappointing one of all! What “gives” with all his “blunders” and bad decisions?
