In a world increasingly shaped by political polarization, it’s easy to view ideology as a product of culture, community, or circumstance. But what if part of what influences our political beliefs lies not in where we were raised or what we’ve experienced—but in how our brains are wired to think?
A new study published as part of the Genetics and Human Agency initiative suggests that intelligence—both measured through IQ tests and encoded in our DNA—may play a significant role in shaping political views. Drawing from data on over 300 biological and adoptive families, researchers found consistent links between higher cognitive ability and a tendency toward socially liberal, less authoritarian beliefs. More notably, these findings held true even when controlling for shared environments and socioeconomic factors.

And the REALLY smart people agree with Terrence Howard that 1 x 1 really does equal 2.
BS.
"Studies" can be made to claim any preconceived idea to be "true", when they aren't.
I would say that the right is less prone to be flattered and preened. It doesn’t take much intelligence to kill babies and force people to serve you.
Is “less authoritarian beliefs” really left wing ?
Horse manure.
Prior studies have found conservative people are smarter.
Those studies would need to be adjusted for racial and cultural differences, plus a myriad of other traits.
This stuff sounds like just some more collegiate B$.
Notice the slimy wording: < a tendency toward socially liberal, less authoritarian belief> liberals are generally authoritarians. So the title is misleading. And, what is an authoritarian?
Weird because RECENT STUDIES proved just the opposite!
The Smarty Pants people think that they know better and that their kids will be better and smarter than al of you peasants.
So shut up, take another Booster, eat your bugs, get on the subway, live in that tenement, turn in your guns, go that shiiity public school, and pay up like a good tax donkey.
Gotta go, the Bell Relentless to the Hamptons leaves in 15 mins.
‘Intelligence’ does not necessarily correlate to ‘smart’.
I know some doctors that are practically helpless outside a hospital.
People have different skillsets and some have more than one.
Being ‘street smart’ is a skillset many do not have...............
And nothing says 'intelligence' and 'civil liberties' like those who supported what was done to people under the four years of Biden, amirite?
That said, my question is, which liberal university is responsible for this research?
Dunning-Kruger effect.
> researchers found consistent links between higher cognitive ability and a tendency toward socially liberal, less authoritarian beliefs <
Maybe. But here’s the thing. Less authoritarian beliefs are conservative beliefs. We believe in personal freedom and a small government with limited powers.
It’s the left who want strict social controls and an authoritarian government. Use approved pronouns - or the thought police will arrest you for a hate crime.
Anyway, I’m sure this whole study was rigged to get the results they wanted. It’s all in the definitions.
University of Minnesota
A mob of malcontents, freaks, men who pretend to be women and violent asocials are intelligent? By that standard the Nazis were geniuses. They had freaks , weirdos and homos in their ranks too. And they were leftists. Goebbels had a PhD and was a club-footed racist, antisemtic moron.
high intelligence (Int) with a massive drop in Wisdom (Wis) usually correlates with a pitifully low Charisma (Chr), weak Strength (Str) leading to poor survivability (HP) due to seemingly clever ideas and plans inevitably ending in very bad (fatal) choices.
