Am I alone? I don't know anyone who has died of Covid.

So I'm on this debate on Twitter.

Here, fellow FReepers is the God's honest truth.

I am 53 years old. I'm not a recluse. I have family, friends, co-workers, all over the United States. I'm socially active.

I do not know a single person who has died from Covid. I do not know a single person who has been hospitalized with Covid. I have not once received a phone call that someone I know has died from this.

I DO KNOW several people who have gotten Covid, all have recovered. Most said it felt like a weird cold. One friend of mine said it kicked his ass. None of them went to the hospital with it. All have been fine.

I read about hospitals overwhelmed with patients on life support, dying.

Seriously, am I living some strange sheltered existence where this disease doesn't exist?

Remdesivir.. is an Anti-Viral... Been around a while..Falsi tried it for Ebola...didn't work.

We do Kidney and Liver testing on them..before giving Remdesivir. Patients can refuse....

FWIW...we don't intubate and place people on Ventilators willy Nilly..If their ABG's warrent it...and the patient wants it we place them on a Vent.

My friend had his family in Afghanistan lose five last Summer - his father, an aunt, an uncle and two cousins.

I had met his father a few times, so that would be one more for me as well, if overseas counts.

We have lost some Freepers as well.

I don’t know anybody personally who died from it, but my uncle had a neighbor who died from it, and his stepdaughter and grandson had classic COVID, in which they lost their sense of taste. The grandson still struggles with taste problems to this day.

53 year old classmate a few days ago. Cross country runner and coach and former marine. Couldn’t shake it. Another former classmate recovered but was on a vent for some time. Others I know were a lot older with the oldest at 92.

I know people who have told stories of Covid deaths, but know nobody personally who has died from it.

You are lucky. Our relatively small county has been hard hit. Been to 2 covid funerals, very sad. My daughters classmate age 39 died last week as well. He was the youngest of ones we know. Lost count of how many people we know who were hospitalized. My mom was one, thankfully she was only in for 4 days. She's 88.

I know people who died from the vax.

I do too.

I didn't really want to talk about this but my healthy, 27-year old cousin died of a blood clot shortly after his 2nd Pfizer vax.

I was referring to early treatment. I apologize for my brevity and lack of clarity. IF you test positive, the last I heard was just isolate. Don’t take anything for it. Just hunker down and hope for the best. If you get bad off (low O2 levels) THEN they’ll do something for you. I’m bemoaning the lack of pre-treatment to prevent escalation of symptoms. I don’t see a standard for that.

I know four. One was a very dear, close friend of mine who passed in the early days of this - April 2020.

Two of his sisters were lost to it later in 2020. All three at the same hospital (Corpus Christi, TX) and all three had been put on ventilators.

All three had underlying conditions and were overweight, but all were very active prior to getting Covid.

The fourth was a friend in Albuquerque we lost this past October. Same thing…she was put on a ventilator. I don’t know if she had any underlying conditions.

Are you claiming that COVID-19, and the attention paid to it, is a scam?

No, I'm not. That's why I posted this vanity. I seriously don't know anyone who knows anyone who has died from Covid.

Yes, my babysitter’s friend. He was only in his twenties but had severe asthma since infancy. He almost died from asthma several times but with COVID-19 on top of that it was too much.

I know there was a doctor early last year who had great success treating alleged Covid cases as bacterial pneumonia cases.

One has to wonder how much not treating people early on and waiting until they get bacterial pneumonia plays i to the death counts.

Once a person’s lungs are destroyed by bacterial pneumonia, there’s nothing that can help.. If you can’t breathe, you die.

So Covid didn’t kill them. Lack of appropriate and timely medical care did.

I’m very sorry to hear that.

I talk to my peers at work, it’s the same story. I have been actively looking and cannot find it.

Very strange times indeed.

I wish I could say I didn’t know anyone who has died from COVID-19. The latest was an exteremely fit and healthy man in his late fifties. Not vaxed. Died of kidney failure several weeks after falling sick with it.

For the record, I'm vaxxed. Two doses of Moderna.

I have no intention of getting a booster.

Also, I do not believe in vax mandates (which, according to the new definition, makes me "anti-vax").

2 relatives, 2 neighbors, 1 friend from church, 6-7 acquaintances. Several who survived but will never be the same. I find it hard to believe that you know no one.

I'm not BS'ing you. I don't know anyone.

I personally don’t know anyone who died directly of COVID so you aren’t alone in this.

I met someone recently who said there was no COVID, but it is (and has been) my view that direct deaths from COVID have been overstated significantly.

I have also had reservations about both the specificity and sensitivity of the COVID tests, so the accuracy of those numbers is in question in my opinion.

It is obvious to me that older people are in far more peril from this pathogen, as are people with certain conditions and co-morbidities. That isn’t anything new, all that was well known early on in March-April 2020.

But if you are under the age of 60 and reasonably healthy you can and will get sick from this but it is far less likely to kill you.

The facts add up to me as I see them, but the hysteria and risk as presented by the governmental agencies, media, etc. do not justify what we have done to our country. Not even close.

There are too many things that don’t add up.

I don’t know anyone personally who died. We did have one employee in my company (about 10,000 employees) who died, he was about 35 years old. A photo of him was posted on the company internal web site, he looked very obese. Obesity is a major comorbidity which makes death by COVID more likely. Very sad.
