A few post above somebody mentioned August Ames. I remember seeing a headline about her offing herself and, partly due to prurient interest, I read the article, which led me to read a few more about that business.

It seems another porn starlet quit the business, got a nursing degree, and went on to become a good nurse. Then, some coworker recognized her and started to tell others about her until she was fired. From there she couldn't get another nursing job so she went back into the porn business.

I do not try to hate and try not to hold grudges so I feel pretty bad for her. I believe the women who gravitate to porn are really screwed up in the head but they deserve redemption, as this girl did.

She was actually a pretty girl and a tragedy.

As normal one will find the causes as follows:

1. Sexual abuse as a child.
2. Drug abuse.
3. Total devoid of self esteem thus you do this and it gives you esteem in this world.
4. Mental issues that are a result of the above 3.
5. Then is the last category. They suffer from none of the above but it gives them joy as they have no internal values that most are born with. This is a mental defect and to be pitied. This is organic and not mental. They are oddly a victim.

I was watching the SciFi Channel covering a ComiCon about eight years back where the roaming floor guy saw several porn girls running by. Seems their company had a booth in there to promote a film (it IS San Francisco). He nabbed one named Penny Flame and she gave an impromptu on-the-fly interview that had me laughing myself to tears - she had that rare innate sense of humor and comedic timing that made me realize she should have been doing stand-up all along and eventually specials, not porno.

About a year later she was on Oprah or something as reformed and turning to God. I was happy about that but saw the humor had been leached out of her. It's a horrible industry that turns out as many dead-too-early performers as pro wrestling. But as least those guys have gone a long way to clean their industry up.
