Beginning Jan. 2, airmen at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, will no longer be able to carry their personal firearms on base, even if they lock them up in their cars first. Col. Gavin Marks, issued the change… "The current policy, which authorizes registered Department of Defense ID card holders with a Nebraska Concealed Handgun License (CHL) and holders of reciprocating state concealed carry license (CCL) to transport and secure privately-owned handguns in privately-owned vehicles within the base, will no longer be valid,"

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! This order is in Direct Opposition to the positions stated by our/his Commander-in-Chief.
In-fact the Commandant of the Marine Corp has just issued a Corps wide order directing all Corps MP’s to be able to carry concealed at all times and, is reviewing recommendations to expand this to other MOS’s as well.
This Air Force officer issuing this order in light of what happened at the Texas church and knowing full well the position wrt this issue of our president seems to me to be a purposeful middle finger to the CinC. And, it must not go unanswered. IMO.

My son is a Navy Commander at Offutt. I'm going to have to ask him if he has a concealed carry permit in Nebraska. I gave him a 9mm automatic for a gift many years ago. He has a marksmanship medal to go with it.
All I can say is that my decision to leave the USAF for a civilian career was definitely the right move.
And, I'm deeply saddened to have to write that...
