WHEN STEPHANIE WILKINSON, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Va., asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave that dining establishment last Friday, she opened up yet another front in Americas ongoing cultural war.
Those on the right and some on the left have bemoaned the decline in civility reflected by Wilkinsons decision. Let the Trump team eat in peace, wrote the Washington Post editorial board, which expressed concern that justifying such incivility will leave only the most zealous to pursue a career in public service.
Kind of amazed and appalled by the number of folks on Left who applauded the expulsion of @PressSec and her family from a restaurant, tweeted former Obama campaign manager David Axelrod. This, in the end, is a triumph for @realDonaldTrump[s] vision of America: Now were divided by red plates & blue plates!
These arguments are understandable. Norm-shredding begets more norm-shredding; incivility begets more incivility, and it is anyones guess to where this path will lead us. The problem, however, is that we are already on a dangerous, anti-democratic road.
And Wilkinson in a singular act of civil, political protest has offered a useful, alternative path forward.
In an interview with the Washington Post, she said that several of her employees are gay and are bothered by Sanders defense of the presidents ban on transgender people serving in the military. Others are troubled by Sanders complicity with the White Houses monstrous family separation policy....

At first I thought this was going to be a piece written by a conservative thanking the lib tard owner of the dirty slop house for giving the right more ammunition for the upcoming election. But no, he thinks this kind of adolescent hissy fit is something that needs to be repeated, as if it will convince adult independents to lean more towards the anarchists and vote in more toddlers and fools to run the country into the ground.
To that I say, bring it on. Show us your true colors.
Perhaps we should identify ourselves. Open carry of sidearms is legal in many States. I'd rather wear a pistol than wear a yellow star.
It was hard to get a table at the Red Hen a month ago and it will be difficult to get a table a year from now.
However, I know that I will not be dining at the Red Hen.
LOL! Dude, that’s Trump’s former lawyer!
You know, the one who paid Stormy Daniels $150K?
The one the democrat legal system said didn’t deserver lawyer-client privilege?
NOT the one who wrote this drivel.
I'm stealing that. ;-)
You can’t steal it. It’s my free gift to the entire FR community.

I'm surprised at the business they have as far away
from major population areas as they are.
return to baseline: Keep in mind this is a specialty restaurant and
open from 5 to 9:30 in the evening five days a week. Seats only 26
patrons so it may get some boycotting but I don't think it will be hurt
that bad. JMO

“And it cost her her business. I approve of this type of alternative path!”
I heard she was a transplant from New York. Illustrative of how formerly normal states and areas are being contaminated
I suspect that argument, while correct, will only be used by the Courts against conservatives and Republicans.
Would a restaurant that refused service to a gay couple be able to argue successfully that "we asked them to leave because they support gay marriage, liberal candidates, and opposed DOMA, not because they are gay"?
I don't think so.
The issue isn't what the law allows, but how much rude behavior and incivility is accepted in society, and what constitutes disturbing the peace. And at another level, whether it is bad for our society to move to a situation where people regularly harass each other for political viewpoints.
Liberals seem to think harassment is OK, but when it is aimed at them they quickly claim it isn't. See Jim Acosta and the CNN team at Trump's rally.

It’s the boston globe - a radical leftist rag dedicated to the destruction of anything good.
It’s applauding the action. When the physical violences comes, with bloodshed, the leftist rags will be justifying it.
Voter registration databases, including political affiliation, are public in a lot if not all states. Couple that with face recognition and devices like Google Glass and you might as well be wearing a big red “R”.
Remember that app where you could geotag suspected gun owners?
Is this the Michael Cohen that visited Ukraine?
Mob frenzy drove a Red Hen rabble across the street to harass Sarah’s dinner party at a different restaurant even after they peaceably left the RH. Mob rule has no place in a society based on law. This will not end well.
The Brown Shirts succeeded in Germany and the Bolsheviks succeeded in Russia because the people in both countries were disarmed by in charge fascists. We are not disarmed. Nor do we tolerate fascism. We absolute will not tolerate mob violence.
You are rushing into war with one of the most powerful, ingeniously mechanical, and determined people on Earth right at your doors. You are bound to fail. Only in your spirit and determination are you prepared for war. In all else you are totally unprepared, with a bad cause to start with. If your people will but stop and think, they must see in the end that you will surely fail.
No, this is a writer for the Boston Globe.
