WHEN STEPHANIE WILKINSON, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Va., asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave that dining establishment last Friday, she opened up yet another front in Americas ongoing cultural war.
Those on the right and some on the left have bemoaned the decline in civility reflected by Wilkinsons decision. Let the Trump team eat in peace, wrote the Washington Post editorial board, which expressed concern that justifying such incivility will leave only the most zealous to pursue a career in public service.
Kind of amazed and appalled by the number of folks on Left who applauded the expulsion of @PressSec and her family from a restaurant, tweeted former Obama campaign manager David Axelrod. This, in the end, is a triumph for @realDonaldTrump[s] vision of America: Now were divided by red plates & blue plates!
These arguments are understandable. Norm-shredding begets more norm-shredding; incivility begets more incivility, and it is anyones guess to where this path will lead us. The problem, however, is that we are already on a dangerous, anti-democratic road.
And Wilkinson in a singular act of civil, political protest has offered a useful, alternative path forward.
In an interview with the Washington Post, she said that several of her employees are gay and are bothered by Sanders defense of the presidents ban on transgender people serving in the military. Others are troubled by Sanders complicity with the White Houses monstrous family separation policy....

But you better decorate that pervert wedding cake.
Ah, yes. At the root of this are those practicing homosexuality. Their hatred and bitterness is off the charts.
While libtards are distracted by this non issue, the SC has 1. Ruled Trumps Travel Ban stays. 2. Trump has full authority to fire federal judges. The pain and misery for them is just starting.
And Wilkinson in a singular act of civil, political protest has offered a useful, alternative path forward.

And it cost her her business. I approve of this type of alternative path!
I encourage more liberals to be so bold. Go ahead. Shoot yourselves in the foot.
In a backhanded way, I say “thanks” to them for kicking her out as well. Anything that continues to remind the public what a**holes those on the left are will be beneficial.
Will the Red Hen be packed this weekend, or will the Red Hen have lots of empty tables?
“in a singular act of civil, political protest”
Intolerance is an abominable thing, except when the Left does it. Then it’s a singular virtue.
This is a guy who’s grandparents likely had a gold star sewn onto their clothes by law, or had a gold star on the window of their store so they could conduct business.
Doesn’t take long to forget history I guess. And what is the difference between asking an openly gay couple that their business is not welcome, and to leave?
They have to be desperate. There really must be nothing else left in the liberal tank.
I wont be eating out anytime soon.
Get woke. Go broke. Red Hen is now down to 1-1/2 stars on Yelp.

Can you imagine the disgusting things they’d have done to their food if they’d allowed them to stay?
As I’m sure you know, there are laws prohibiting discriminationon on the basis of specific things, including sexual orientation. But political beliefs are not protected, so the owner had the right to kick SHS out. And she also has the right to suffer the consequences.
The last thing we need is more infringement on freedom by adding political orientation to the list of nanny-state protections.
Best outcome: the market lets people like the owners of the Red Hen what we think of their bigotry and distrimination against “us”. Eventually the message will sink in, and the result will be a more tolerant nation instead of one that is even more deeply divided as Axlerod says.
Jees, when you can’t even convince David Axlerod...you’re screwed as a liberal.
Hmmm, why is the mayonnaise so sticky?
Perhaps its already been done. Vile people.
There’s more than one “Michael Cohen” in the world. I imagine the New York City phone book is overflowing with them.
As usual, the comments following the article are as enlightening as the article itself. In this case, I count it a unique miracle that the predecessors of these writers, most from the Boston area, were the patriots with the conviction to initiate the Revolution for Independence as a way to secure freedom and individual rights. What a collection of scumbags and douche-nozzles exposed themselves in those comments supporting Cohen’s position, along with that of the Red Hen owner.
The whole message from the left’s so-called culture war these days is as simply translated as this:
We can harass, intimidate, or say absolutely ANYTHING we want, and get away with it. If you respond with so much as the slightest of negativity, our fake-news legions will lambaste you endlessly as hateful, until you lose your job and life
I could be mistaken, but I believe discrimination based upon sex is illegal.
