On Monday, Ross Douthat defended Sarah Palin in his op-ed Scenes from a Marriage. Sure, he took the position that the media ought to give up on Palin and get back to normal productive coverage of normal productive politicians. But he also aimed to extinguish any possible link between Jared Lee Loughners crime and Palins martial campaign rhetoric. The next day Palin took a spectacular dip in the polls, down to a 38% approval rating.
Theres already a burgeoning movement that suggests Palin and her contemporaries, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, shouldnt be let off so easy in there connection to the Tucson massacre, an area Palin marked on her infamous (and totally looney) crosshairs map.
At Petition Online a group has set up a request that the Department of Justice open an investigation into the rhetoric conservatives now rely on to get undereducated, trigger-happy Americans out to vote. Thats not perceived metaphor from a liberal, by the way. Palin has actually stated that by reload she means go out and vote.
Should the Department of Justice open an investigation into Palin? Well, when you place a target over an area, you are most assuredly suggesting something be fired at it. That actually happened. If the DOJ does not open an investigation, it suggests our democracy see the shooting and Palins rhetoric as nothing more than a happy coincidence. This would be a real tragedy.
The Tucson shooting should not have been another opportunity for Palin to position herself under the Klieg lights. It should be an opportunity to put her in front of a jury. Sign the petition.
LOL, go ahead and indict her, it will be the silliest move ever made by moonbats and rocket her to the Presidency.
She needs to talk to Mark Levin.
Of course they are serious. Let them do it. We’ll see how long that lasts.
Liberalism TRULY is a mental illness..you just can’t fix people like that
If this happens, then it is time for REAL Second Amendment Solutions. The 2nd Amendment protects the first.
I agree.
Why not? On Freerepublic this week, freedom loving freepers were bemoaning the fact that the dad of a kid who accidentally shot himself on the range with an uzi didn’t get charged with manslaughter.
I mean, this is America. We put people on trial and in jail... Because we are America... F- Yeah! Sarcasm Tag.
Yeah this idiot says in another piece that the Ground Zero Mosque is “constitutionally protected”
LOL at the sheer stupidity of these people
To the libs calling for these indictments:
Enough of your s**t, already.
Either STFU or make good on your threats... then gird yourselves for what happens next.
They touch Sarah Palin and there WILL be violence. It just won’t be the type of violence that they had hoped for.
***** “ She needs to talk to Mark Levin. “ *****
Exactly ! Sue their asses!
TT
I can’t believe her her approval fell by that amount.
Cindie
Good grief. These people are sickos.
Hope they have an excuse when a leftist commits the next incident.
They don’t seem to realize that they might one day be subject to the standards they set. They’re setting themselves up into a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation; either they’re open to the very things they do to their opponents (and we’ve seen how fond they are of that) or they openly demonstrate their hypocrisy.
Actually, they are trying to incite violence. Pay no attention to them. I wish there would be less articles like this and more about how to get rid of Obamacare; etc.
They'll blame the Tea Party.
A leftist (anarchist) committed this incident - and they still blamed the Tea Party.
