The Civil War is about to loom very large in the popular memory. We would do well to be candid about its causes and not allow the distortions of contemporary politics or long-standing myths to cloud our understanding of why the nation fell apart.
The coming year will mark the 150th anniversary of the onset of the conflict, which is usually dated to April 12, 1861, when Confederate batteries opened fire at 4:30 a.m. on federal troops occupying Fort Sumter. Union forces surrendered the next day, after 34 hours of shelling.

Be advised that to those who wisely balance the views of others and who oversee disparate ideas, the vision of a hopping and skipping windbag causes indigestion and irritation. That you take pleasure in claiming you were instrumental in getting at least one poster banned says a lot about you and yours. That you revel in the thoughts of getting others who oppose your views banned belies a sickness in your soul. Indeed, you're most likely to be the sort who becomes a turncoat in any future conflicts. Kind of like the cowardly vigilantes of your "heroes" of the post-Civil War. You remember those Klansmen, don't you.
Ever more so, ever daily, with every post your cabal makes, it is clearer and clearer that you're a danger to more than yourselves and other posters.

Actually, no, it wasn't their only issue, they had about five or six.
And by the way -- why shouldn't they have wanted to settle the West like everybody else? Why should they stay east of the Mississippi -- because Abe Lincoln said so?
So Lincoln didn't have a problem with the idea of "second-class citizenship" after all, did he? He must only have been kidding when he expressed compassion for the slaves ..... because he was orating against the people he wanted to make slaves, slaves of his political party.

The vitriol and hatred was way more than anything I’ve seen. I also think the leftist agent provocateurs here on FR were extremely upset that Non-Sequiter was exposed. Then a few went ballistic when his alter-ego - Darius Whyte - was uncovered.

No...Sam Houston wasn’t killed or tried, because everyone knew his first love was till the end of his life, TEXAS.
As I stated earlier, he wanted Texas to secede, then become a Republic, not join the Confederacy.
I will tell you a secret: I really don’t celebrate Lincoln’s demise, just said that to get your buddy THUMPER stirred up. But it is no secret that I depise Lincoln.
Another fact: Lincoln approved a plan to assasinate Jeff Davis and the Confederate Cabinet, but the plan was unsuccessful.
SO...the fact that he was killed by the same means he advocated for others, seems like justice to me.
