I'm all for Ralph Nader running again. I'd love for Howard Dean to get fed up or some other Democrat to get fed up with Obama and I'd love for a third party of Democrats and liberals to establish itself. I want all kinds of liberals to line and up run in third parties. That's how we weaken their side. As for our side, the focus must be to take back the Republican Party. That's the way you win. You can draw attention to yourself by denouncing both parties at the same time, and you can think that you're relating to a whole lot of people or being disabused and forgotten about, but you do a grave disservice in doing so because you're never going to win anything. You're going to guarantee Democrat victory in perpetuity. We need a strong conservative movement that takes back the Republican Party and then we have a strong Republican Party. It's hard work but it is happening.
That’s how the Conservatives formed a government here in Canada- the loonie left is split between three other parties, allowing the grownups to win with just 38% of the vote.
This specific part of the monologue needs further discussion.(for some anyways)
Lead out............
Finally something in canada that we americans should emulate!
I wish both parties could split in two simultaneously. In theory there are dims who aren’t completely loony, right?
We (conservatives) would be screwing the pooch if we were the third party out of 3 but we’d clean up as one of 4 because there are more of us than there are of any of the others. I figure real conservatives are about 30-35% of the population and the other 3 groups would be about evenly split. It won’t happen of course but I wish it could.
Good point. He wants a third party to split the DEMS for a change. The conservatives fall into the “ third party” trap over and over and it looks like some are still ready to do that. We need to stay in and straighten the Pubs out.
Rush is, of course,right.
I agree. Let the other side form a third party. Spill their guts.
Any prospects of doing that are all an illusion.
But when I hear you say that there's no difference in the two parties, you're being set up for this third party stuff. The guaranteed outcome of that is Democrat power in perpetuity. People are just sadly mistaken if they think a third party is the way to battle what's going on here with the Obama administration and his policies

Rush is right.
Thanks be to Ralph Nader for Florida in 2000.
You may be right. However I would say there is a higher probability of that happening and winning the Presidency than trying it via a 3rd party approach.
Rush is not advocating a third political party for conservatives, but rather for democrats, because it's a good way to weaken democrats and liberals at election time. Rush makes this very clear in the comments you posted:
As for our side, the focus must be to take back the Republican Party.
Rush is saying that we do a grave disservice by denouncing both parties as the same, and furthermore, he said that we are not going to win anything by thinking that way. He thinks this is a way that the Democrats win. He says:
We need a strong conservative movement that takes back the Republican Party and then we have a strong Republican Party. It's hard work but it is happening.
Rush is not and will never be for a third party, but rather he advocates conservatives taking back the Republican party. No Reagan conservative is for a third party, as Reagan was vehemently opposed to the idea. It is easier to gain more influence with the GOP than it is to start a new party from scratch.
That's total bullshit! You obviously missed his programs this past week where he specifically stated that 3rd parties are the downfall of the conservative right.
I'm a Reagan conservative, and I'm for a second party. The Democrat and Republican parties are now no more than one two-legged socialist beast.
How's Alan Keyes doing? Revving up for another run?
In theory there are dims who arent completely loony, right?
In the South if it hadn’t been for dims the GOP wouldn’t be very far along most likely. You still find a lot of GOP members in the South that are converts from the Democratic Party. In Texas we’ve had some 19 or so local officials convert just the past few months....
How do you intend to “take back” the Republican Party? Specifics please.
