Rush is not advocating a third political party for conservatives, but rather for democrats, because it's a good way to weaken democrats and liberals at election time. Rush makes this very clear in the comments you posted:
As for our side, the focus must be to take back the Republican Party.
Rush is saying that we do a grave disservice by denouncing both parties as the same, and furthermore, he said that we are not going to win anything by thinking that way. He thinks this is a way that the Democrats win. He says:
We need a strong conservative movement that takes back the Republican Party and then we have a strong Republican Party. It's hard work but it is happening.
Rush is not and will never be for a third party, but rather he advocates conservatives taking back the Republican party. No Reagan conservative is for a third party, as Reagan was vehemently opposed to the idea. It is easier to gain more influence with the GOP than it is to start a new party from scratch.
I'm a Reagan conservative, and I'm for a second party. The Democrat and Republican parties are now no more than one two-legged socialist beast.
How do you intend to “take back” the Republican Party? Specifics please.
It seems you and I are in 100% agreement.
We must reform the GOP and purge the RINOs and other enemies of the people. The lounge lizard Republicans can go back to their country clubs and golf courses—real Republicans, conservative Republicans must step forward. 3rd Parties have a place in the system. If a “Moderate” Candidate is forced upon the Republicans by the RNC then Conservatives should set a Conservative up on a 3rd Party. Like what happened in the New York State 23 district—in this case the winning Democrat was less liberal than the Republican. We must give the people a choice and set up Doug Hoffman’s to face down the RINOs and Lefties. When it comes to President a 3rd Party may not be the way to go-—BUT—HEAR ME— If the GOP rejects Sarah Palin, and if she goes 3rd Party—I will follow!
” It’s hard work but it is happenin”
In what country ?
I am unhappy with the Repblican party but the past two years or so have convinced me totally that those who say with George Wallace that, “There’s not a dime’s worth of difference” are in grievious error. Bad as the Republican’s can be comparing them to the Democrats is like comparing a mosquito bite to that of a pit viper.
When I think about it all my anger with the Republicans come from the times when they act like Democrats. That is not all the time as some would have us believe. We do have some people like Jim Demint in the party and as a South Carolinian I am as proud of him as I am ashamed of our other Senator. There is a reason why we speak of “Rinos” but never of “Dinos”. There are no Democrats I know of who are traitors to the leftist agenda.
