Nothing is going on here with Rush. He did not endorse Republicans voting third party. The premise of this whole thread is BS.
It’s been said that the democrats are a bullet train to socialism, while the republicans are a slow train to socialism.
I want off this train. And Rush is right. Splitting the left would be a great thing to do, but it’s a death knell for our side.
Rush is not advocating a third political party for conservatives, but rather for democrats, because it's a good way to weaken democrats and liberals at election time. Rush makes this very clear in the comments you posted:
All this talk about third parties(the left and their media certainly don’t help any) is IMHO a symptom of the republican party’s lack of representation.
If the republicans did what we wanted, there wouldn’t be any talk of third parties.
You certainly don’t see that so much on the left. The D is fully engaged with it’s base. So much so that KSM is coming to NY.
Don’t you think that’s why I posted that specific paragraph?
Right. Actually, those who know Rush, know he likes to illustrate the absurd by being absurd. This comment was pretty much a joke, and he was making fun of the liberals. I listen to Rush everyday, I know he is against the idea of a conservative third party.
The only way conservatives can win elections is getting true conservative candidates to win in the Primaries. If there are not enough conservatives to do this, then we are just a minority and cannot win anything anyway.
But voting third party will always guarantee defeat.
That’s right.
What I meant was that the party machine must fear losing conservative votes (to either staying-at-home or third party) in order for them to support conservative candidates.
For instance, let's say JD Hayworth challenges McCain in the primary. We should make sure JD wins, because he is a big improvement over McCain and a more reliably conservative.
OK. I'm not really familiar with Hayworth, but I'll assume for discussion's sake that he is acceptably conservative. What are Arizona conservatives supposed to do in the general election if they fail in the primary and McCain gets the nomination? There are four options: stay home, vote McCain, vote Democrat, vote 3rd party. Which of these is most likely to further the goal of "taking back the party"?
If everyone pledges to support the Rinos the RNC will have no incentive to change. It's a shame that they lack the principles to do it without coercion, but they obviously do.
If you are willing to support your party when it becomes socialist does this mean you will support your government when it becomes communist?
Not voting doesn't advance conservatism, nor does voting for a liberal democrat.
So will voting for McCain. And voting for McCain has the added disadvantage of providing an incentive for him and others like him to be nominated again.
So through process of elimination, you only have one answer left. It's not a great option, but its the best option of the four.
I disagree. I believe misbehavior must be punished, not rewarded, if it is to be discouraged in the future.
Not voting doesn't advance conservatism, nor does voting for a liberal democrat.
Nor voting for a liberal democrat with an 'R' next to his name.
We must reform the GOP and purge the RINOs and other enemies of the people. The lounge lizard Republicans can go back to their country clubs and golf courses—real Republicans, conservative Republicans must step forward. 3rd Parties have a place in the system. If a “Moderate” Candidate is forced upon the Republicans by the RNC then Conservatives should set a Conservative up on a 3rd Party. Like what happened in the New York State 23 district—in this case the winning Democrat was less liberal than the Republican. We must give the people a choice and set up Doug Hoffman’s to face down the RINOs and Lefties. When it comes to President a 3rd Party may not be the way to go-—BUT—HEAR ME— If the GOP rejects Sarah Palin, and if she goes 3rd Party—I will follow!
Sarah is a Reagan conservative, she won't go third party, but she will reform the GOP from within. So if Sarah runs we should all join forces and support her.
Sorry I misunderstood your sentiments. I just think that the title was misleading
Limbaugh endorses third parties
Vote For McCain in the general election (as US Senator)- if he wins the primary, however fight like H*II to make sure that never happens!
**If everyone pledges to support the Rinos the RNC will have no incentive to change.**
Conservatives have done so, and every election we end up with a candidate further LEFT than the one before... After McLAME... who is the GOP’s nominee gonna be .. OLYMPIA SNOWE????
McLame drove me from the GOP... you can do what you want with the primaries. ... if the Nominee is sufficiently Conservative.. I will vote for them.. if not... I want the ENEMY running things when the USA GOES TO HELL~~
They’ve got until the midterms to get back on track, I won’t support any more leftists.
