According to a source close to The Giuliani campaign, Rudy Giuliani is throwing his hat into the ring. The Hinzsight Report confirms, through a source close to the Giuliani campaign, that he is presently sending people out into all 50 states to secure his name on the primary ballots. "Despite Mayor Giuliani's public cautiousness, this is evidence that he is seriously pursuing the Presidency in 2008, and he should be taken very seriously. Critical state polls have shown Mayor Giuliani leading the pack, and it's about time that he start being considered what he is--the front-runner" a source tells The Hinzsight Report. Giuliani has lined up nearly 300 key Republican supporters in New Jersey for his bid for the 2008 presidential nomination, his campaign announced this week. In a recent Quinnipiac University poll of New Jersey voters, it showed Giuliani leading all Republican presidential candidates and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic contender, in a head-to-head matchup. The New Jersey primary, which is currently set for Feb. 26, is likely to move up to Feb. 5, placing it early in the campaign season and increasing its significance. As many as 15 states could hold their Republican presidential primaries Feb. 5, reports Gannett. |
They would be outnumbered. [Makes no difference when they get the drop on you except they wind up with MORE guns.} We don't deny people not in planes the RKBA for fear of terrorists. [No we prevent it because of nuts, incompetents, suicidal malacountents, etc. There is nothing indicating the second amendment means that EVERY person can own a gun or that they can carry it ANYwhere they wish at ANY time. In addition, you forget that the BoR was originally meant to constrain ONLY the federal government.]
But you're ignoring the other part of the point. Betraying the base on other issues. Social issues, to some extent. But illegal immigration and other issues too. Betraying the base will have those results. The nomination of Giuliani will not be received well by the party base. Some of the base won't vote for him in the General. His views are that offensive.
"I have no intentions of throwing away my conservative principles and personal integrity to join you in electing a liberal to the White House. That serves no good purpose whatsoever. It undermines everything I've stood for over the last three decades. I'm no sell out. Sorry."
Let's try it on for size: President Hillary Rodham Clinton. Has a nice ring to it. Meanwhile, more states will implement anti-gay marriage amendments and more states will offer more pro-life positions, where they belong, which you probably support.
But in Washington we will have President Hillary and a RAT senate and congress. But look at the good side of it. You will keep your principles and you will have no right to bitch and moan about what the RATS are doing to kill the country like cutting and running, raising taxes and hurting businesses.
It's really quite striking just how similar Hillary's positions are to Rudy's. Yet he's the guy to prevent her agenda.
Well, to be technical, the colors are actually #FF6347 and #B0E0E6. Bring it on, Nancy boy. :)
Contrary to the position of some on this forum, Rudy Giuliani is NOT the only candidate in the Primary Election.
However, he IS the most liberal one running for the Republican nomination.
Yeah, but they realize Rudy is the biggest threat to their My Way or the Highway schtick. Essentially though they would be almost as hysterical about ANYONE who could win so you are correct about that.
The Rs in Congress abandoned their base -- the CwA conservatives. We screamed for fiscal, legal, border reform.
They pandered to the Socials. "Defense of Marriage" act?
And they lost their majority.
The part of the base that won't vote for anyone that doesn't think like they do can't be appeased. If we nominate a guy who did a good job in the past, promises not to grab guns, and is strong on defense -- you won't vote for him unless he thinks like you. Against Gays, is pro-life, etc.
Good luck with that.
That's always a good point to make. Some States' Rights advocates argue against the Incorporation Doctrine (certainly a fair argument to make) -- but that means conceding that states then have the power to confiscate all guns, make Islam the state religion, put accused criminals on the rack, force citizens to quarter state militia, confiscate your property without ANY compensation, shut down all media the state government doesn't like, eliminate jury trials for accused criminals, allow strip searches in public for no reason or probable cause, etc. No thank you.
I know what a "random" sample is and I didn't claim that the FR poll was one. [Then you know that it IN NO WAY can be interpreted as reflecting the opinion of the site contrary to your pretenses.]
I also didn't claim, without a shred of evidence to support it, that MOST FReepers hadn't picked a candidate yet. [Has nothing to do with anything I have said but you also have no reason to claim the opposite is true either.]
Ah, ok. They say:
Personal Questions: Liberals and libertarians agree in choosing the less-government answers, while conservatives and populists agree in choosing the more-restrictions answers.
Economic Questions: Conservatives and libertarians agree in choosing the less-government answers, while liberals and populists agree in choosing the more-restrictions answers.
So they mean Rudy on both personal and economic questions is a less-govt type.
And isn't that what the R party is suppose to stand for?
The Pretend Republicans neither understand how those campaign speeches work nor care.
McCain is more hated even than Guiliani. And there is NO way he is a "liberal". Much of my openness about Rudy is to prevent McCain from getting the nomination.
You contradict yourself. First you say that it was the CwA Republicans that stayed home in 2006. Then you blame the social conservative Republicans for possibly staying home in 2008. Make up your mind.
The only armed folks on 9-11 were the terrorists. Or did you miss that part?
>>>>>But look at the good side of it. You will keep your principles and you will have no right to bitch and moan about what the RATS are doing to kill the country like cutting and running, raising taxes and hurting businesses.
My right to free speech and political dissent is not predicated on who wins an election. No matter what happens in ANY election, I'll always keep my conservative principles and personal integrity. No matter who wins in 2008, I'll still be on this forum criticizing and attacking ALL liberals, both Democrats and Republicans. That you can bank on. And advancing conservatism, of course.
?
I said the CwA conservatives voted 3rd party or stayed home in 06. You said the socials might do the same in 08 -- if Rudy gets the nod. I personally don't believe the Socials will stay home. I think this is all hubris and bravado, myself.
Clearly, pandering to the socials while the CwA base wanted real reform lost the Rs the majority.
And you are now arguing for even more of the same. You don't have anything to say at all about ethics, defense, legal reform, education reform, etc.
Just 'gays and abortion', 'abortion and gays'.
Good luck with that.
"And isn't that what the R party is suppose to stand for?"
I'm sure you could check the party platform for that, however, I think the "Less Gov" in Libertarian and Liberal is more on social issues anything goes. But for Liberal it means more Gov on everything else.
I have always joked that Libertarians were just armed Liberals that didn't like paying taxes. ( there may be some truth in that).
I would respect the rights of private airlines to ban firearms from their planes. Would you support the right of a private airline to allow them?
You are right. There are others then Guiliani. Hunter might be good, so is Newt.
I have no problem voting for either of these candidates. My point is, for absence of either winning, and are left with Guiliani as the candidate, people would rather stay home then vote.
Just what the RATS want.
