Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.
Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.
"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

So it is a human right to engage in a public health hazard?
By that argument, smokers have human rights as well.
Instead, they are vilified. Whereas gays are elevated, enshrined and celebrated.
And I don't reach this position from a religious point of view. I really don't care what two people do on their own dime in their own bedroom.
But when they engage in high-risk behavior, then demand that such be treated as a right, and then shriek to high heaven that they not be allowed to donate blood and poison the rest of us, I have an issue with that level of gross hypocrisy.
And I'd think you would realize at that point that the critics of the gay culture have a point without being bigots.
I'm voting for anybody with an "R" at the end of their name. At this point, Principals will have to wait. We have to keep Hillary (or more surprisingly, Edwards) out of the Oval Office.
So, you are here to learn more about Rudy? Did you know that he is NOT a social conservative?
Yes, 1989. You remember, it was a couple years before you voted for Clinton the first time.
The other quote is from 2001, but perhaps you could find me the statement between 1989 and today where Rudy repudiated his remarks or indicated he had changed his position. If not, it doesn't matter if he made them in 1969, they still stand.
Four spam posts.
Why don't you point to your posts on this thread that express your concern for the health of homosexuals.
Don't you think you should consider that Rudy may just not get nominated?
We have a deal going that this thread will hit 700 posts before 2400 Hrs, PST.
Thanks for playing such a large part in making that happen for us!
Yep, leadership consists of telling folks that it's A-OK to continue engaging in high-risk behavior that endangers public health.
Pathetic.
You need to be a lot more honorable than that - to be taken seriously.
And is opposed by about 80% of the American Public, but hey, I'm told Rudy is a regular champion of states rights.
You're too damn dumb to realize I am doing just that.
Being gay statistically drops 20 years off your life expectancy.
I've successfully defended each one of these items you brought up. It sounds like you want to argue semantics. I don't.
Gay Marriage: Giuliani authored, with the help of various gay advocates, the nation's most sweeping (at the time) domestic partnership/civil union legislation in NYC. He pushed it through the city council and signed it into law. He received awards and citations from the radical gay groups for enacting the legislation.
Additionally, Giuliani vocally opposed (and President Bush and the Republican Party Platform supported) the Marriage Amendment which would have kept states from being forced to recognize gay marriage. He did not state that he was against the amendment because of any sort of federalism issues. He just said that he was against it and that it wasn't something anyone should campaign on.
Through his entire term in office as Mayor, Rudy did the bidding of the radical gay groups. The same groups that advocate for gay marriage. He attended their meetings, accepted their awards for his work in furthering their agenda, dressed in drag at their fundraisers, marched in their parades, and accepted membership in their organizations. It is clear by his own policies, his own statements, and the peope and groups that he associates with and supports, that he supports gay marriage. Coming right out and saying "I support gay marriage" would be political suicide, so he denies it But his record proves otherwise.
Amnesty for illegal aliens: By disallowing his city officers to enforce immigration laws or even cooperate with the INS who desired to enforce immigration laws, Giuliani gave an amnesty to illegal aliens resident in his city. He has bragged about providing "normalization" to illegal aliens in his city as well as providing them benifits. Additionally, Giuliani stated his support for the Senate's amnesty legislation last year and has advocated for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens currently within our borders.
Gun confiscation: Giuliani confiscated more guns than any other current presidential candidate - to include the Democrats in the race. I posted an entire thread that detailed a press conference where he bragged about how many guns he had had confiscated while he was mayor. He clearly supports gun confiscation as he was one of the biggest gun grabbers in the country.
I agree that it would be more effective to some people if it had links to specific information for each item. But, for most items, that information is buried in articles, quotes, policies, press releases, and such on web sites that I don't control. If I have time, I may put up a web page with more specific info so that each item can have a link with somewhere to point. But, even then, it won't help some people. They refuse to accept just how oppositional Giuliani is to the Republican Party and how much he agrees with Hillary Clinton. They are in denial and steadfastly refuse to accept the truth.
By the way, I don't many care a hoot what the GOP platform said at some convention, which gets no press coverage these days, and is totally ignored, and is a creation of the nominee. Hot convention debates about party platforms are long gone. They are an anachronism.
You're wrong. The platform is drafted and voted on by the platform committee. I know some of the people who have served on that committee very recently. I know what kind of battles they've had over the language in that document. But you're right about one thing, the party leadership and too many candidates totally ignore what is supposed to be the guiding document of the party.
Thread is open again.
"And is opposed by about 80% of the American Public, but hey, I'm told Rudy is a regular champion of states rights."
As long as they do what he says...
Rudy if he runs, will have a lot more to say about gays, guns, abortion, SCOTUS, illegals, etc. I suspect it will generate a LOT of threads. :)
Just read your article about Rudy on this thread! Excellent, excellent!
Thanks for posting!
He's my kind of candidate! He expects results, which is a far cry from the wishy washy government critters y'all have been complainin' about here lately. Right?
My post to you hit the wall, when the admin moderator freaked out, and now I forgot what is was about, except that it was about a gay couple, both highly successful professionals, church going, "married" in a ceremony by a rogue Episcopalean priest with family and friends in attendance (they did the wedding dance ;)), with two adopted kids, whom, so far as I know, don't engage in any risky behaviors when it comes to their health. One size does not fit all.
