List of GOP Senators NOT supporting POTUS, preferring to stand with the democrats

It is reported that Senator Lott has a list of 10 names of GOP senators who have elected to stand with the democrats, instead of supporting our own WAR TIME, GOP POTUS.

• “If Iraq is going to fulfill its role as a sovereign and democratic state, it must start acting like one. It is for this reason that I oppose the proposal for a troop surge.” – Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn.
• “This is a dangerously wrongheaded strategy that will drive America deeper into an unwinnable swamp at a great cost,” said Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb.,
• Several Republican senators are candidates for backing the resolution against a troop increase. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine, Gordon Smith of Oregon and Norm Coleman of Minnesota said they oppose sending more soldiers.

  Republican Sens. George Voinovich of Ohio and John Warner of Virginia also might be persuaded. Warner said he supports the Iraq Study Group recommendations, which strongly cautioned against an increase in troops unless advocated by military commanders.

All I know he was born in NY......sure thinks like a dem. When he first won election to Wellstone's seat he said he would go to D.C. and honor Wellstone's legacy.

so isn't it possible that the majority of voters (in the states these senators represent) don't agree with the plan currently on the table?

Or, has it become SOP for elected officials to represent the party leadership instead of the people???

My comment about DeWine was sarcastic, although poorly texted. He's not around anymore to be on anybody's list partly because he was on the Gang of 14 list as well as the anti-ANWR list.

With a couple of exceptions of guys who just want to get noticed because they think somebody besides their mothers and wives would vote for them for President, most of these people are from liberal blue states. It may be a back-home ploy more than a real Senate action.
