Get ahold of yourself, it's one election. Repubs ran on, Don't vote for the dems, and lost, rightly so. The conservatives could hardly govern when their President is a moderate. People are sick of the War because Bush did not make a good enough case for it in this time and the hammering of negatives by the DBM didn't help.
Now the conservatives need to take this opportunity to get back on track! BIG TIME, moderates need NOT apply!
I think more than anything else, the election will be seen as primarily one thing:
A referendum about the war in Iraq.
IMHO, we should have gone in, got Saddam, then got the hell out.
If the muslims chose to kill each other after that, it's not our fault - or our problem.
TexasPatriot, if it's any consolation, about 1/2 of us here in Missouri are just sick to our stomachs this morning. I hope these "conservative Democrats" are truly conservative, but I'm not holding my breath. The leadership will keep them in tow, I'm sure.
As for amendment 2; well, I've managed to hold back the tears so far this morning, but don't know for how long.
Just remember, Bush can get off his duff and "veto" the next 2 years and 2 years of Pelosi all over the t.v. should turn the tide again. One can hope, anyway.
When Hitlery is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, we can look back on today as the day it all began, and thank those "conservatives" who stayed home.
The fact is the Republicans didn't deserve to win. The Democrats didn't beat them, they beat themselves. While they spent like teenagers with daddy's credit card, and ignored their base, the Democrats took control by running pro-life, pro-gun, anti-tax candidates. The Republicans gave small government lip service, and then acted like Democrats, so it's no wonder the Democrats figured out that two can play at that game, and that they are just as good at lying to the public as Republicans.
If the Republicans want control back, they had damned well better start walking the walk, and not just talking the talk.
They deserved to lose.
They squandered their chance.
