TexasPatriot, if it's any consolation, about 1/2 of us here in Missouri are just sick to our stomachs this morning. I hope these "conservative Democrats" are truly conservative, but I'm not holding my breath. The leadership will keep them in tow, I'm sure.
As for amendment 2; well, I've managed to hold back the tears so far this morning, but don't know for how long.
Just remember, Bush can get off his duff and "veto" the next 2 years and 2 years of Pelosi all over the t.v. should turn the tide again. One can hope, anyway.
Not that it matters now, but http://www.angelfire.com/blog/stemcells . My wife and I put that together for the sole purpose of trying to spare Missouri from what it will now endure with this cloning Amendment. A lot of your fellow Missourians will be really wearing their decision to vote for that heavy in the coming years when they find out what a lie they voted for. And it will be too late. McCaskill has a lot to answer for someday when she meets her Maker. It seems clear that if God disapproves of ANYTHING more than aborting a baby in the womb, it would be disecting one for it's minute parts, or cloning one for harvesting. That amendment that McCaskill and Fox got passed is the very reason Mary Shelley wrote "Frankenstein". It's that very abuse of science with NO moral or ethical oversight that she feared of science. There isn't even any benefit from embryonic or fetal stem cells. Other than another way to create tumors on the heart and brain, and a new way to cause tissue rejection. That's all embryonci and fetal stem cells has to offer. God this is tragic. Ignorance and apathy just put this country on it's knees for two years, maybe more. God help us if the conservative movement doesn't recover and retake Congress in two years. The Democrats will do all they can to entrench themselves and never lose Congress again. AFter two generations controling it, they think they're entitled to it. We have a long road ahead of us, it's strewn with potholes, and we're fresh out of spares.
Oh, and what you said about Bush and the veto, that's the only hope we have for no ground being lost that MAYBE Bush can veto any tax or war funding or things like that coming from this new liberal Democrat House and Senate. Unfortunately, the SC nominees are just toast. No Scalia type will ever see the light of day with the Democrats in the majority. That is the real tragedy. Stevens will retire or pass away the next few months, a year at most, he's in very bad health. And we were |---| that close to making the SC a responsible constructionist judcial body. Now that's gone. That is the biggest tragedy to come from these gutless conservatives who checked their supposed cosnervative values at the door, because of frustration with weak Republican leadership. Wonder if they'll be just as annoyed with the radical liberal Democrat Congress they've strapped us all with.
