Coulter vs Darwin
Godless | 06/06 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 06/09/2006 6:16:57 AM PDT by tomzz

You can't help but notice that there is a very vocal sort of a little clique of evolutionists on FreeRepublic, and there has always been a question in a lot of people's minds as to whether or not the theory of evolution is in any way compatible with conservatism.

This new book ("Godless") of Ann Coulter's should pretty much settle the issue.

Ann does not mince words, and she has quite a lot to say about evolution:

"Liberals' creation myth is Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, which is about one notch above scientology in scientific rigor. It's a make-believe story, based on a theory which is a tautology, with no proof in the scientists laboratory or the fossil record, and that's after 150 years of very determined looking. We wouldn't still be talking about it but for the fact that liberals think evolution disproves God....

It gets better from there, in fact a lot better. Ann provides a context for viewing the liberal efforts to shut down everything resembling debate on the subject in courtrooms and makes a general case that it is the left and not the right, which is antithetical to science in general. Anybody interested in this question of American society and the so-called theory of evolution should have a copy of this book

I've come to agree with Ann Coulter: evolution is the religion of those who don't believe in a Creator.

Where do you put the theistic evolutionists? (Are they chopped liver?!)

And there is a ton of evidence that there is a direct relationship between the early eugenicists, socialism, and (the religion) of teaching evolution.

Evil people will abuse any theory or worldview for their own benefit. Just ask the Christians (Crusades, Inquisition, Conquistadors. . .)

I have many times pointed out that this is definitely an abuse because it is not logically possible to determine what people ought to do simply by observation of what happens in the natural world (Hume's ought/is problem).

Yeah, we even have a little box for 'Biblical Christian'. If you check it, you're rejected.

Howzabout Mormon, as in the late Henry Eyring?

Cheers!

Nice post. Overstating the obvious, but very nice.

Could not this planet be composed from ancient or discarted planet source, as well as some ingredients from living planets and of course earth having its own idenity!

Could this not answer some disputes going over carbon data?

In short, no.

Well explain why that would help!

Radiocarbon dating is done on once-living organisms, such as trees, bones, and shellfish.

What's more, by reading the Bible in the way they do, they turn God into a juvenile magician who flips physics and His own laws of nature on their heads

???

You might try making an analogy to Jesus and the disciples eating grain on the Sabbath , or Jesus healing on the Sabbath. (Matt. 12:1-13, Mark 2:27 "The Sabbath was made for Man, not Man for the Sabbath.") Jesus liked to overturn a lot of things on their heads; and he explicitly told his hearers "...at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves." (John 14:11) Yes, He enjoined believing in miracles; but He Himself said in effect that they were "second-best."

Cheers!

You've been seriously mis-informed:

Greek warrior Spartan civilization. Weakling infants were left in the mountains to die.
The Republic, Book 5, Section 1. Plato recommended state-supervised selective breeding of children.
History of Australia. Before Darwin, England exiled criminals to purify the race.

As for socialism, it has an ancient history. It existed and was practiced long before Marx. In recent times the Mayflower passengers practiced "bible communism" when they arrived on these shores. There were many communal societies before Marx, too many to recount here. And as for Darwin and socialism, Darwin's Influence on Ruthless Laissez Faire Capitalism. ICR (the granddaddy of all creationist websites) links Darwin to good ol' capitalism.

Theists have a religion - sometimes it's more confused than other times.

Another paraphrase from one of Ms. Coulter's chapters (as well as another Author) - "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be, also."

And Dawkins is an annoying boob. Good biologist, I understand, but a grand pain in the neck.

One might say he is to evolution what Ann Coulter is to conservatism, a too-often embarrassing would-be firebrand.

Tom, Hate to kick in my two cents worth here, but perhaps you have noticed that the MSM is not always entirely accurate with other issues; say Abu Gharib?

Often they have mixed motives; whether liberal bias, ignorance, or "just getting a good story" (as in the case of the newsbabe riding a canoe in a flooded street in only one or two feet of water).

Have you considered the possibility that the MSNBC, etc. themselves either misunderstood or glossed over important details?

One of the biggest beefs scientists have with Creationist types is a marked tendency to rely *on authority* for things, even when empirical evidence, and the opportunity for fact-checking, is readily available.

Yes, there is a time for trust, and faith, etc.; but there are also times when they aren't the right tools for the job.

The difficulty is in deciding how much baby to throw out with which bathwater--and depending on one's philosphical underpinnings, people will tend to come up with quite different choices on that.

Full Disclosure: Dilbert once had a good series of strips about running into one of the fanatical ECREE "professional skeptic" types.

Cheers!

In sum, for those who have it, Spiritual knowledge trumps all other forms of knowledge whether sensory perception, reasoning or whatever.

Which may explain Deanna Laney's actions.

Does he think that T-Rex got hit by an SUV a few days before the find, or something?

You just invented the perpetual motion machine with a periodicity of, oh, 70 million years.

1) Dinosaur walks along, minding its own business.

2) Errant SUV slips through a wormhole, hits the dinosaur and kills it.

3) Dinosaur bones fossilize, the rest becomes oil.

4) Oil is discovered and is used to fuel SUV.

5) Back to step 1.

Come to think of it, this would exhibit Hindu periodicity, wouldn't it? And if the driver of the SUV had been the dinosaur in a previous life, we could bring Shirley MacLaine into this, too.

Full Disclosure: Do any of the geophysicists know, specifically which geologic period most of the oil is thought to have come from? Permian? Pennsylvanian?

And is there any relation to areas of known fossil beds and "nearby" (either depth or laterally) oil and/or coal deposits?

Cheers!

Dawkins is a great writer...[BUT...]

Keeping up a parallel I started earlier, and given that this thread is about her, I adored Ann Coulter all through impeachment. (OK, she's not a great writer, but she was a good spokesperson.) Increasingly, she goes lost being cleverly outrageous, as does Dawkins.

Err, ahh, umm...

...or is Morton the one who keeps dumping out the salt belonging to that little girl under the umbrella?

Or read CS Lewis' "Miracles." God is not a "juvenile" anything. The Creator necessarily predates and is outside of His creation.

Without regard to how many years humans have been on Earth, God is super-natural. He doesn't over turn His laws, he works them better than we can measure outside of what seems natural to us.

I'm not misinformed. You have added to the information, with historic brothers of the modern day eugenicists.

However, there is a definite corelation between the various national Eugenics Societies and socialism in the mid- to late 20th Century. Julian Huxley's writings and speeches on evolution and Christianity should be evidence enough.
