Gay Parents Line Up For White House Easter Egg Roll Tickets

WASHINGTON -- Hundreds of gay and lesbian parents hoping to take their families to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll plan to start lining up Friday evening to make sure they get tickets for the Monday event.

Thousands of tickets — an estimated 16,000 last year — are given away on a first-come-first-come basis beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

National Park Service officials said Wednesday that children of all ages may attend as long as there is at least one child 7 years old or younger, and no more than two adults per group.

First lady Laura Bush's office issued a statement saying all families are welcome to attend.

The Bible has nothing to do with the fact that homosexual males have a 10,000% greater chance of getting AIDS than normal men. It also has nothing to do with the fact that homosexuals have a 20 year shorter life expectancy. Thems the facts.

All I know is that the sweet jaaaaaaaysus fundies are the ones who make a person's personal salvation their business. I know. I used to be one. It's like Amway!

If homosexuals didn't make a big deal of this and plan to be there in large numbers identifying themselves with rainbow leis, no one would know or care.

Who is making the big deal out of it?

It seems to me that you are.

As I see it, the problem is they've organized to make a political statement at an event for children and will quite possibly shatter the innocence of other children. While I can understand your statement to ignore them, the comment reminds me of the statement by Edmund Burke:
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Do you always put words in other people's mouths?

No, not at all. After you -- tell me all about it.

Card sharks? You a fundie that doesn't believe in a friendly game of poker?

No, I meant the kind of professional gambler who e.g. used to infest the big Atlantic ocean liners, skinning first-class and second-class passengers in "friendly" games, and whom the passenger lines' detectives exerted a great deal of effort to discover so they could be kept off. Several of them drowned when Titanic went down.

Whoa!! I ain't goin' out on that limb with you. (Even though I do think that we ought to let the Jehovah's Witnesses deliver the mail as a cost-cutter). We've got Catholics who will be happy to tell you that you're going to hell for any number of reasons.

Suppose this. Suppose that. It's called obfuscation.

Here are the facts: some homosexual groups have organized to make a statement at an event for children.

Kids are a lot more tolerant than adults are. Haven't you noticed that? They don't see skin color, they don't see that their friends' parents are drunks, or ne'r do wells, or gay. They don't see any of those things until their parents start pointing them out.

A kid will only be scandalized when you tell them they ought to be.

While I can understand your statement to ignore them, the comment reminds me of the statement by Edmund Burke:

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Could you possibly overdramatize this situation any more?

There's no need for anything of the sort.

Concurring bump. The Left decided to try to politicize this event. Let them explain it to their kids when they get disinvited.

The White House could sidestep this particular challenge in future by adopting, regretfully but firmly, a one-parent rule: one parent in each family group. End of problem, for now, until the HRC guerrilla-theater mavens think up something else.

Letting kids with Easter baskets onto the White House grounds does not equate to recognizing gay marriage.

Did you not read the AP story? The gay guerrillas sure think it does. Read the quotes again. It's their entire purpose in participating.

You and I disagree over the admission of these children to the Egg Roll.

I would suggest you read my postings as we are in agreement as to the innocence of the children.

Allowing homosexual parents with their kids in is not the issue -allowing homosexuals a public soap box at an event for children to promote the homosexualization of society is the issue...

It should be self evident that IF the primary concern of the 'parent' was the child rather than the promotion of the homosexual agenda then this matter would not even be an issue of contention...

The homosexual activists pushing this issue are simply using the children -hoisting their own sexual disorder and need for acceptance above the needs of the children that facilitate thier entry into the event... One word describes this action -selfishness... Parents naturally sacrifice for thier children -they do not sacrifice their children for their selfish desires -- to do so is disordered....

If there is bad behavior, then deal with the bad behavior. As I said, those who are toting poltical gear, might be excluded, because it is not a political event. But to bar at the gate anyone who is other than a man and a woman, with some kids with bright eyes, eager to participate, with childlike wonderous joy at the expectation of it all, the excitement, is repulsive, frankly, to me, and I suspect to a decisive majority of Americans. Indeed, it is gratitously cruel, to the kids in particular. They don't choose their parents. Americans tend in critical mass numbers to be good and fair minded folks. I trust them in that sense.

Some people still think the earth is flat. If a group of flat-earthers took their kids to the Egg Roll, and proclaimed that their participation was meant to show that the earth was flat, would that make the earth flat?

Americans are big-hearted people, especially where kids are involved.

If we are looking for sin, we will find plenty of sin.

If we are looking to love sinners, we ought to get started!!

Kids are a lot more tolerant than adults are.

I think it's better to say kids are a lot more innocent than adults are. And to make a political statement at an event for children is wrong no matter how it's spun.

A kid will only be scandalized when you tell them they ought to be.

I'd say that's somewhat true. What's more true is kids will be scandalized when somebody or some group robs them of their innocence.

I believe that speaking up to protect the innocent and pointing out a political statement at an event for children is something that should be done and not ignored. If you think quoting Edmund Burke is over dramatizing then we'll just have to disagree of the importance of protecting the innocent.
