You make very very good points. Now why is it that those who can, won't. Because just like the first world trade center attack there was another. There will be an attack from across the border it's just a matter of time. But then again the attack started a long time ago. The Senate, the President can't even put more border controls out to make a dfference.I will not vote again for anyone who does not take national security serious and protect the border. Why does there have to be alot of people die for polticians to be serious. And if illegal immigrants do not have to obey the laws of this country who wants them here anyway. And why is everything you see now have spanish? That just burns the hell out of me. Your right things are made so easy they don't even have to speak English we are suppose to learn spanish.

" ....consider everything you will lose if we turn off 10-15% of the electorate"

The majority of the electorate supports a far tougher immigration policy than we currently have, so it follows that the tougher the President's position on the issue the greater the chances the GOP maintains/increases its congressional majority. If anything, the President vetoing a bill that makes illegal residency a felony would put the nail in the GOP's coffin for the midterms.

The sentiments of most legal citizens of Mexican heritage (who didn't break the law to get here) are as anti-illegal immigration as many on this forum, so there would be no worries about losing Latino voters after passing such a bill.

BTW, we have plenty of nearby countries as poor as Me-hee-co who do not send people in because there is a fence (an ocean), proving that fences work. And there is no solution anywhere to start pouring money into those countries. I'm just astounded at your notion that the American taxpayer isn't burdened enough, and now we need to make ME-HEE-CO better. Amazing.

Oh, and if a tough border enforcement law is put in, just watch who gets shot. It will only take a couple.

You do realize that their presence here, in such numbers, suppresses the prevailing wage, don't you?

A fact lost on many. But maybe not. Maybe they want the wages supressed. I am starting to realize there are quite a few in our party that want an oligarchy.

It will be interesting after these "11" (more like 25) million have been granted non-amnesty. What will they all end up doing if there is a recession and not as many jobs? How will our social service programs support them then, since the schools, hospitals, SSI, etc. are nearly tapped out now, in decent economic times? What will happen to crime rates? /rhetorical

The Dems want an all out amnesty.
Work for your local Republican if you want to prevent that.

he wanted a Guest Visa plan and he will get it. Sounds like he was right.

He wanted Dubai to manage our ports, too. Didn't quite work out that way, now, did it.

I never believed in my heart of hearts our Republican leaders had truly bought into it. I was wrong.

The elite in both parties went to the same schools, walk in the same circles, and go to the same parties. They are much more alike than they are different.

Yes, I knew all that. Noblesse oblige. I'm normally considered a cynic yet I allowed myself one little secret corner of hope. The visions I had for the day when Republicans held the Presidency and both houses of Congress have pretty much been shattered. What a mess.

So true. And they are stalling on this because they've let it get out of hand over the last 20 plus years.

A law not enforced, is not a law.

Tell that to your elected officials.

And if you have a problem with unenforced laws, maybe that ought to be your issue instead of xenophobia and isolationism.

One more thing, you want another law right? What on earth makes you think it will be enforced when the current one isn't?

You are 100% wrong. America is dying as a nation. We are losing our culture! Most of these illegals didn't come here to work, they came here to work the system. Bush and Congress, (mostly Senators) are responsible. We have been sold out. They don't work for "We the People" any more, they work for big corporations.

If you or anyone else wants to sell their soul to the Devil, you go right ahead, because ANYONE who would aid and abet CRIMINALS is as guilty of the CRIME as the actual person who commits the CRIME, according to the Penal Code!! That includes Bush, Congress and those of you who are supporting the CRIME OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Do you understand who you're standing with? The side of CRIMINALS!! ANYONE who aids and abets them is a CRIMINAL too. THAT, FRiend is the LAW! Unless, of course, you're a Politician, because then you can just rewrite the law to suit your own desires/needs/benefits.

You are ignoring the big picture here. IF "We the People" let this government get away with another amnesty then you better KNOW that they will run right over the top of us for EVERYTHING else they want to do. Right now the First Amendment is under attack by none other than the man you say we should capitulate to support, John McCain. He will be the GOP candidate for President The Second Amendment is in danger under McCain too, because he's anti gun.

So, to answer your question about winning or being right, I have to tell you that if winning means to compromise every value and belief that I've ever had just to be right, then I don't want to win. IF winning means that we would spit on the grave of every man and woman who ever lost their lives protecting our FREEDOM, or every person who fought to preserve that FREEDOM, then HELL NO, I don't want to win. I KNOW how to fight the RATS, because I KNOW they are EVIL but, so help me God, I CANNOT tell the difference when I look at Bush, McCain and the other RINOS!! THEY are just as EVIL. WINNING THROUGH CAPITULATING IS NO WIN AT ALL. I have more SELF RESPECT than that. I'm sorry you don't.

RIGHT NOW, nothing is more important than the majority. Without it, nothing else gets done

From a fiscal standpoint, a Republican majority is worse than girls gone wild. I'd prefer a split government any day!

Sorry, no xenophobia or isolationism here.

It's quite possible the new law won't be enforced, but it's better to try and fail, then to never have tried at all.

Without tough employer sanction laws and enforcement, the illegal alien problem will only get worst.

A guest worker program will only make matters worst.
