I never believed in my heart of hearts our Republican leaders had truly bought into it. I was wrong. The elite in both parties went to the same schools, walk in the same circles, and go to the same parties. They are much more alike than they are different.

Yes, I knew all that. Noblesse oblige. I'm normally considered a cynic yet I allowed myself one little secret corner of hope. The visions I had for the day when Republicans held the Presidency and both houses of Congress have pretty much been shattered. What a mess.
