ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
"I have already had to remind someone of the difference between Yemen and Dubai."
You're kidding right? Like explaining the differance between the colors rouge and red and scarlet?
Do you know about the shipping port China built in the Carribean somewhere?
Really? Just who do you think put out the information on this deal to begin with? LOL! Oh, by the way, have you heard anything on Cheney lately? LOL.
personally I don't think that congress will let this deal stand, and I think Bush will back down when push comes to shove
Must be those Build-a-Burger guys.
Oh great...NOW he decides he can use the veto. Sheesh!!! Is there any verification of this?
Let me word this another way...has France attacked us lately?
If Hutuchson Whampoa outbid the Dubai company, would we let the Chinese operate our ports?
>They all came over from the Dem party because they couldn't support the peace-nic element. .....I do think they split the Republican party and we could end up with another Perot type election in 'o8.<
It all sounds like pure putrification to me. Remember, when butter turns rancid you throw it out and buy new butter. Too bad more of us don't taste the old butter.
Well, as I plow through this thread trying to catch up, let me just say thank you: I literally laughed out loud. ;O)
Yep.
The President has often said we are at war ... and to common sense Americans, war means certain things with respect to borders, ports, etc.
I think I understand what the President is trying to do ... but I think he is headed into a buzz-saw.
I like it.
"In military operations what is done openly and by force is much less than what is done by strategem and the use of opportunity." - Polybius
We'd all like to think we have all the facts, and we have an instinctive distrust of the government, especially if we suspect we're unwitting dupes in a strategy we can't see. But it may be that by so doing, we're providing a service of which we aren't aware. If you're right about what President Bush is doing, he couldn't carry it out if he had to explain himself to all of us first.
I have as deep a suspicion of govt as any other rational person, but I also understand that there are times when successful operations require some secrecy and behind-the-scenes manipulation. As long as the result is good for the country, I'm willing to be an unwitting player.
Where was his friggin' VETO pen when McCainiac's unconstitutional CFR crossed his desk ??????????
Bush really said that? He sees no difference between a British company and a state run company from a country where the population adheres to an ideology posing as a religion that demands all must submit to their allah cult. That's not some peculiar quirk of a small, moslem sect somewhere. That's mainstream islam. It always has been. The UAE is no friend to Bush or the U.S. No moslem country is a friend to the U.S.
That's why none should be involved in running any U.S. port of entry, even indirectly.
Rush is comfortable bucking his entire audience. Hannity is scared of losing his, and will say whatever he thinks they want to hear.
"Two foreign nations" whose companies operate under contractual terms with U.S. port agencies that are empowered under state laws will get laughed out of court if they try to make the case that these states have no legal standing in this case."
Ha! It it was all just so easy and clean as noted above. There are political considerations, and this revelation didn't address it. It think Bush just grabbed his snowboard in the air doing the "method" before landing.
Quick reminder:
this is supposed to be a "government of the people, by the people and for the people."
Don't forget Americans have to put up with all that airport security and now the UAE just waltzes in during the WOT and scarfs up the ports. Yup, that's a cause of frustration.
