An ancient animosity between UAE and Iran?
That changes a LOT in my mind, because it implies UAE is inclined to oppose Iran. Wow.
Nice find.

The common people are sometimes surprisingly perceptive. Not when it comes to this issue....judging from some of the tinfoil hat knee jerk reactions I've seen. But then, it's easier just to fly off the handle than to actually research the facts, isn't it?
To: EternalVigilance
Well, y'all have driven all reasonable folks from the thread, and ended any kind of reasonable debate. Hope you're proud of yourself once again. You're still here, so I guess that makes you unreasonable.

Man, you are so right. My "from the moon" theory is being born out.

I have been there, but that still does not make this right.
To: BigSkyFreeper
I have. I'm failing to see how I'm getting things backwards.
Nice try, though.

This is a shameful day for FR. I'm sure we'll be treated to Coulter tomorrow, with another "raghead" remark or some such, to egg on the zoo. Bush will reverse his stand in a few days and you'll agree with him then, too.

You my brother are absolutely right. But you are looking at this from a spiritual angle not carnal. Most because of their greed cant see past their portfolio.

"I don't buy any of your faulty logic. An economy built on corruption should indeed fall"
There is nothing logical about Miami. I never said there was. It is a foreign land. I'm just relating what goes on. Pick up a Miami paper. The Ports leak like a sieve and there is no way the UAE on the margin will make any difference. Miami is to corruption what Castro is to Communism (oh, the irony of that statement).
BTW, I agree that corruption should fail, but nobody will stop it in Miami. NOBODY. For amusement read some of Carl Hiaasens columns or books. His reportage is sometimes more unbelievable than his excellent off the wall novels. I heard a quote this weekend: It's like a sparrow belching in a Hurricane.
Did you see the WSJ this AM? The editorial places the whole dust up at the feet of a partner of P&O being squeezed out. Somebody is worried about campaign contributions and other favors. I find it quite endearing that FReepers are so concerned about national security, but the naivete on the facts is shocking.
