One day you will be standing in line with a plastic jug and you will remember this thread.

In a week, I'll be drinking out of a jug, remembering this thread, and laughing like hell.

Yeah, as I said, I don't have a government site listing all the security measures (and again, I'm sure you are not asking that be posted in public), so I don't know what more I can help you with.

Yep, always said it looked modern and never said they didn't have cash. But when I was there you couldn't get a magazine without all mention of Israel blacked out. You better not get caught with a Bible and you better not get caught with a beer outside one of the private clubs. And if you were a poor worker from a third world country you weren’t treated well at all.

My plane was late once, and my room wasn’t ready, but I needed to go to a meeting, so I asked the front desk to check my bag. They said leave it there. It was by the front door of the Hilton hotel. My driver said nobody would bother it because the punishment for theft was getting your hand cut off. Nobody bothered it. It was in my room when I got back.

An Iranian man married to an Italian woman I knew who lived there couldn’t go into the private clubs but his wife could have if he would have allowed it. And women couldn’t drive or be on the street without their hair covered.

I’m happy to hear all this changed.

***I'm still trying to get over the fact that we are contracting this business out to foreign countries.***

The REAL question is why can't American companies MAKE MONEY running American Ports??

The Answers are right in front of us, and the same reasoon that American Companies go overseas to manufacture...

Over-Taxation
Over-Unionization
Over-Regulation
Inane Enviro Laws
Unlimited Civil Liabilities, Etc, Etc, Adn.....

I'm not asking for a government site, listing, or explaining some strategy of the US government. I'm just asking for an assurance that no UAE controlled company will handle security at the 6 ports.

Does anyone have such a link?

Individuals in that country are motivated to kill us, and we seem to be handing them an opportunity.

No wonder Michael Savage calls him "Hush Bimbo." Someone said that Savage might turn to the pro-side, I think not, I have him on now.

Did you hear the guy who knows how ports operate pull Savage up short? How Savage suddenly turned, and said "Well, you make me feel better about this whole deal, but we should still have hearings."

The guy (I think his name was David) answered every objection Savage came up with. He said he and and his friends are laughing at how hysterical the politicos and know-nothings are about this.

There is nothing to this. NOTHING.

HELLO ALL...Haven't you noticed......

Cheney Shooting is not in media. NSA is not in Media. and other issues are not being harped on ALONE by the Dem's.

This is a issue BOTH Rep, and Dem's are opposing Bush, He isn't worried due to being a lame duck. He will back off or allow the Rep, to controll the issue to stop it in the house or Senate, to gain national security issues for 06.

This will cover a great deal of media time for the next 4-5 weeks, while quitely the cheney gets a break, the Supreme court can announce an abortion issue, Iraq violence, Gitmo, and Cartoon flap, will all take back page.

When all is said is done.........either congress, the amerciann people will be on the page of the president after the facts are reviewed by congress, or the president will back off, due to the last minute option of giving Halliburton the NO BID contract to do the JOB.....THIS after getting the DEM's on record saying they'd rather have HALLIBURTON do it.

I still have faith this man know's how to play POKER.
Give it a little time.

If a company has a contract and hires our workers, wouldn't they still be paying taxes? The employees could unionize, and they still would be under the same environmental laws etc.?

Perhaps their tax system isn't as punitive.

I was either going to be drinking out of it or peeing into it. I don't know.

I've never seen so much hyperventilation in all my life. Over nothing.

Then let's let Hamas run the port since the port management firm can't hurt us.

+++Absurd analogy. Hamas is a terrorist entity and no friend of the US.

Halliburton doesn't manage ports. It builds port infrastructure.

"Certain elements". Is UAE among those "elements"?

I was quite clear in distinguishing Middle Eastern nations from certain elements of Middle Eastern society. Do you really not understand such a base assumption of the WOT, to the point that this needs explaining? Yes, there were and likely are terrorist elements within the UAE.
