ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (AP) President Bush says the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and he will veto any bill that would stop it.
My gut reaction yesterday was a lot like many posts I have read here, but when I heard more of the story, and that Rumsfeld was behind this..I am listening.
I am also looking at all the players who are tripping to the microphone. That too makes me curious.
I will be interested to hear what Mark Levin says about this today too.
I just cant' and won't believe that W Rumsfeld would ever put us in harms way.
May I say to you that I think that you are so right about that?
Personally I don't have anywhere near enough information to know who is right on this. But, somehow though I trust G.W.'s instincts and/or facts.
But, this is a fascinating and intricate matter.
It is quite appropriate in this instance.
Please don't associate me with your nasty little group.
You think WE put pressure on the White House? Who are we, Iran? Respectfully, our opinions on Miers amounted to less than a flea bite on Bush's behind.
Harriet Miers was never going to sit on the Supreme Court, and everyone in the White House knew it. She was a Stalking Horse. Nothing more, nothing less.
OMG!!!!!!!!!! thumbs up to hipaatwo's post:
"It turns out that an anti-Israeli foundation run by the crown prince of Dubai owns the very deed to CAIR's headquarters located almost in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol. The foundation has held telethons to support families of Palestinian suicide bombers."

It's seems people are jumping up and down and no one knows the facts. Let's let it shake out.
You did say that Meiers was opposed due to sexism however. You can't deny it.
You were wrong. And everyone that says this is race-based or whatever is wrong as well. It's war-time based national security.
ping to 1052
Gotta love the schoolyard snitch!
Don't forget, ever slept in a local motel..... or dry cleaners, or nail salon
Or shopped at a 7/11.
That will never happen, too many complacent people and if there weren't the National Guard, Local and State Police, etc. would take care of any civil disobedience in quick order. I do not believe that there will ever be another tea party or Civil uprising to cause any significant outcome. Politicians are corrupt--both sides--right down to the local level. They are nothing without their power.
I read the other day too that this company is the only company that inspects every single shipment sent from their country of origin. Wish I had a link.
Something has been strange about this deal right out of the gate. No sooner does word get out about the deal but Chuckie Schumer and Hillary! are calling press conferences to denounce it and grandstand about how tough they are on national security.
95% of people have no idea that these ports'infrastucture were already operated by a foreign-owned conglomerate. These companies do not provide any manner of security at these ports. They are under the control of the Coast Guard and Homeland Security.
What strikes me as typically ironic is how these same dems are always out front in claiming to respect Islam, Arabs, etc. and how could we ever "racially profile" those boarding airplanes, etc.
Now they've decided to profile a company which is based in an Arab nation. This nation is a strong ally in the War on Terror.
Port operations are a global operation.
Port security is a US Homeland Security (USCG) operation. This does not change.
Employee staffing on the docks is controlled by the union longshoremen and believe me, this will never change. If you are saying that these unions will suddenly be infiltrated by Arab terrorists, I have a real hard time buying that.
I think that what happened here was a political misculation by the Bush White House about how quickly the dems and the MSM would pounce on the issue and give themselves a chance to pontificate about how tough they are on National Security. Now a lot of the Repubs are running damage control.
We'll see
So you think Iran has more influence on Bush than the actual Americans who voted for him. I find your take on the Miers situation hilarious. Do you really believe Bush meant for her withdraw the nomination.? I can't see how he thought that would benefit him.
Infiltration : How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington
As Americans continue to worship at the altar of cultural diversity and endorse religious tolerance for tolerance sake, Muslims masquerading as "moderates" have insinuated themselves into the very fabric of American society, taking advantage of our blind trust and gaining footholds in our education system, government, workplace, law enforcement, and military. In this startling book, investigative journalist Paul Sperry uses revealing new interviews and classified documents to courageously explain how, for the past thirty years, these Islamist extremists have been covertly working to destroy our constitutional government and the Judeo-Christian ethics on which our nation was built. Their goal, according to Sperry, is to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Quran and turn America into an Islamic state. And, as Sperry details point-by-point, they have been unwittingly aided in their sinister aims by the politically correct media, government, and citizens, who don't fully understand the dangers of the Muslim faith.
Infiltration explodes the facade of moderation and patriotism that Muslim scholars, imams, clerics, businessmen, and other leaders in the burgeoning Muslim community in America have conveyed in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In reality, the Muslim establishment that publicly decries the radical fringe-represented by al-Qaida's brand of Islam known as Wahhabism, the official religion of Saudi Arabia-is actually a part of it. The only difference is that they use words and money instead of bombs to accomplish their goals.

Should I shower before of after I read this?
>>Even if it was a good idea, the Bush Admin doesn't have the PR to sell it. And that's the bottom line.<<
FWIW, I have yet to see the time when there was such a groundswell by the majority of FReepers as in this case, that our instincts were later proven wrong.
Can anyone cite an example?
