An Open Letter to Mr. Jim Robinson
April/25/05 | jveritas

Posted on 04/25/2005 6:13:10 AM PDT by jveritas

What is happening to Free Republic Mr. Robinson? The Bush Haters and Republican Haters are getting louder and more daring by the hour. These phony conservatives who claim the Conservatism purity are savagely attacking President Bush and the GOP as bad as the worst liberals.

The Bash Bush feast is becoming a part of every thread. Everywhere you see Bush is a traitor, Bush wants to sell our sovereignty to Mexico, Bush is a liberal, Bush has no spine, Bush is destroying our economy, Bush is puppet in Vincent Fox hand, Bush is this Bush is that, everything wrong in this world is Bush fault.

Nothing but doom and gloom is coming from these phony conservatives. For them our economy is destroyed, liberals are controlling the government, the GOP will be finished by 2006, Mexico has invaded the US and changed its identity, China is superior to us, we are no more a superpower, and on and on and on. Every minor bump in the road is turned into a Mount Everest of catastrophe and disaster

Either Free Republic will remain the Premier political forum on the internet, a site to advance the real conservative cause and provide great and continuous support to our President Bush and the Republican Party, or it will be forum controlled by bitter and delusional phony conservatives who can never win on the ballot box, and come to FR to poison the atmosphere through their extreme kooky rhetoric and turn it into another Dummyland.

Enough is Enough.

That W. swearing the oath of office picture reminds me of this:

U.S. Constitution Article 1 Section 8 Clause 15:

"The Congress shall have Power to provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections

and repel Invasions;"

U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

In some respects globalism will take place. That doesn't mean we have to disolve our borders, relinquish our sovereignty or sign on to programs that allow foreign nationals to help establish laws U.S. citizens will be subject to.

I don't even like legal immigration. I never did like the argument that our economy depends on immigration and a population increase. I would prefer a steady population.

All too often, those that think globalism is inevitable, for get these issues when they encourage folks to accept "the inevitable". Not much is inevitable, unless we relinquish our duty.

As I point out in my home page, we should defend our sovereignty. The positive outcome of such a defense is not inevitable. I appreciate your vigilance in that regard.

"Presidents, regardless of party, face constant pressures from the Left -- from the Big Brother government, neofascist, high tax, property-confiscating liberals, from the econazis and global warmists, from the pro-abortionists, from those who are pro-one world and anti-American and from those who advocate cradle-to-grave socialism. (Have I left anyone out?) And, unless there are constant counter-pressures from those on the Right who believe in small government, low taxes, America first and individual liberty, presidents, under Left-wing pressure, tend to drift that way." -- Lyn Nofziger

Hey Numbnuts,

We are not phoney Conservatives, we are realists. At least we are free thinking enough to know when Bush is failing us and not afraid to say so, unlike you friggin wackos who backed a lying, purgering, dissgraced ex-president that lied to a grand jury and you koolaid drinkers tried to defend him in front of the whole world. He is of the biggest reason you d$ickheads no longer control any major political institution. Now run along and go give the convicted socialist George Soros and moveon.org some more of your hard earned money, you sissy.

Yeah, it does.

I have American Indian blood too from only a couple of generations back.

Maybe that is why I don't trust the American government. Maybe that is why I don't trust a non-American to tell me about my country.

Moral-liberalism has resulted in a less than zero population growth in our nation, as it has in most of Western Europe.

You are newcomers compared to my family, but our ancestors probably all served together under General Washington.

My American Indian blood may help blunt the newcomer tag. I agree with the last part completely.

This is a conservative web site. When the guy we voted for does some REALLY un-conservative things...... he's gonna hear about it.

Get over it, Jveritas.

This is still a relitively free country. :)

Keep up the good work JR.

Of course not FreeReign and no one on this forum defends illegal immigration or having weak borders. I am totally against illegal immigration, illegal immigrants who comes here to live on welfare and suck our money for free and I am for very strong border controls. And so are all the people who are accused constantly of being OBL (Open Borders Lobby).

As I stated before what is really annoying me off is the savage attack on President Bush and the GOP regarding the immigration issue. As you have seen in many other posts and thread the President has been called a traitor, a puppet in Vincent Fox hands, he sold our sovereignty to Mexico, the Mexican government control our governement because Bush betrayed us, Bush is the first Mexican President and on and on and on. In some threads you cannot tell if your are on Free Republic or DU because of the Bush Bashing, it is just incredible.

The President has a lot of enemies inside and outside. he is fighting the liberals and their media whores, and fighting terrorists and terrorist regimes. I do not think it is constructive at all that we go after him like he is Benedict Arnold.

We should engage on constructive criticism but not in Bash Bush feast. We can discuss how we can strengthen the borders, what shall we do with the 10 million illegal immigrants who are already here, etc... But you do not see this when you go to immigration threads you see the most brutal attacks on the President the Republican Party. Even worse on many other threads that are not even related to immigration are becoming into attacks against the President and the Republicans. The negativity and doom and gloom has reached unprecenfented levels ion this forum. All what you hear is everything is going bad, the economy is bad, Bush sold us to the Chinese to enrich his friends, Bush gave our sovereignty to the UN, etc.... Every small bump in the conservative or Republican agenda is turning into absolute disaster. I do not know how some of these guys can function in the society with such gloomy and negative attitude.

Maybe not you, but others damn sure do.

How do you expect us to discuss the immigration disaster without discussing President Bush's participation in the negative?

Below is Mexico's policy:

What is wrong with Bush simply adopting this as our policy?

"Not at all, but they should be disciplined and tamed down."

Wow, I can't believe we finally agree. I knew you'd come around.

Now, how do you suggest we "discipline" Bush and Rove and "tame" them "down"? ;^)

Politics, if nothing else, has always been about discourse. The attitude of discussion here at FR doesn't make any of us less of a conservative because we disagree with policies the President has supported. The Founding Fathers didn't always agree on everything, prompting Benjamin Franklin to observe something to the effect that it is difficult to make 13 clocks all chime at exactly the same time, but we have to try.

To complain about the level of discussion here and the disagreements that arise is reminiscent of HRC's recent screed about not being patriotic because we disagree with the President and this administration, blah, blah, blah.

Discussion doesn't make us Bush-haters or anti-American. To the contrary. If we didn't discuss and disagree and, instead, merely nodded our collective heads at every word and gesture of the President's, would it make us more conservative, or more like the leftists who want to take their "talking points" and America to the 3rd world and beyond?

I submit that the discussion that occurs on this forum benefits us all. I know that I learn from it and I'm sure that others do as well. Reasoned discourse is not an abandonment of conservative ideals. In fact, if anyone has abandoned conservatism, it seems to be more that Bush has abandoned it than those of us at FR. Record deficits, TSA, the Mexican Invasion, Medicare Prescription drug benefit, Campaign Finance Reform, to name but a few, are NOT conservative philosophies.

I have voted for W twice as President and twice as governor of Texas. I also moved and voted for Jeb twice as Gov. of FL, and voted for their father to be President - TWICE!! I also disagree with many of Bush's positions. Does that make me less of a conservative?

And, yet, I have vehement disagreements with many of Bush's policies. He has a bully pulpit and won't use it to explain and push for SS reform. He created the DHS and, yet, refuses to order the most important thing that the DHS should be doing - controlling our borders. These are not trivial issues, but are issues that need to be on the table for discussion.

In the long run, disagreeing with Bush doesn't make us Bush-haters or anti-American. The level of discourse on this forum, as heated as it sometimes gets, means that we are passionate about these topics and we care about our country. We don't debate just because JimRob has the bandwidth, we debate because these issues are important to us. We all may not always appreciate what the other has to say, but it is important to get these opinions and ideas out in the open where we can all share in the discussion.

Free Republic has become the Rush Limbaugh of blogs. Sure there are others, but none that offer such a diverse audience and variety and caliber of facts, opinions and knowledge. If JimRob shuts down discourse among those who visit here, does that maintain the ideals of conservative politics, or stifle free speech in the spirit of Air America and certain other blogs where the free exchange and expression of ideas and opinion are restricted? FR is the blog that it is, in part, because we have discussions that are passionate and sincere.

Changing that would devastate the very philosophy upon which this forum was founded. We aren't anti-conservative, anti-Bush or anti-American. Just the opposite. We are people who are passionate about our country and our conservative values and the best way to preserve all of them.

Including mom's apple pie.

Did you EVER answer why you gave up on changing Lebanon and decided to come tell us how to run OUR country???

I wanted to have a better future in the greatest country in history of mankind, the United States of America. And I am very grateful for the many great things America offered me.

GOD bless America.

You know that yesterday the last Syrian troops left Lebanon and Lebanon was free at last from the Syrian terrorist regime. Thank you President Bush for making this possible, and great thanks for our troops in the Middle East who with their liberation of Iraq, and making the Iraqi election possible, have encourage the Lebanese people to revolt for their freedom.

GOD bless and protect our brave troops.
