Federal Agents Discover Illegal Tunnel at Mexican Border
The Associated Press
Published: Feb 25, 2005 CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) - Federal agents on Friday discovered a clandestine tunnel that may have been built to smuggle drugs and possibly people from Mexico to the United States.
The tunnel was found on the U.S. side of the border fence in Calexico, about 120 miles east of San Diego, said Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It was about 20 feet underground, measuring 3 feet in diameter and reinforced with wood and plastic. Agents found rubber tubing possibly intended for ventilation.
U.S. and Mexican authorities had not determined where the tunnel originated and ended - or even if it was completed, said Mack.
Federal authorities have discovered at least 12 tunnels along the U.S.-Mexico border since Sept. 11, 2001, some of them only partially completed, Mack said.
The latest discovery was made using surveying tools that Mack declined to explain in detail.
Last year, Homeland Security began using technology developed by geophysicists to pinpoint suspicious terrain. Previously, it relied on human intelligence and sheer luck, such as when a Border Patrol agent in Calexico struck a sink hole in 2003.

This border issue is unreal.Fox News did a documentary interviewing a Border Patrol man and his wife (last year), who live in a trailer right on this side of the fence. They are BEGGING for our government to send help down to them, ANY kind of help. Even if is our National Guards.
Night after night, the Border patrol and his wife wearing night goggles take pictures for proof. Thousands are coming across in hordes. And that IS night after night. Fox News even showed the video tapes that the Border and his wife have been taking of these people jumping the fence and running.
The Fox Newsman (I forget his name. He has the gray hair, is tall, thin with a long thin face), spent the night with this couple, also using night goggles to watch for himself.
The next morning, they walked about the yard. She said that they are NOT all Mexican's. That they have found the books of the Koran and prayer rugs dropped in haste as the people jumped the fence and ran on into our Country.
She showed the rugs and the books to the Fox Newsman. It was horrifying.
What with all the Mosque's in our Country, what better shelter for the terrorists to find shelter? They are here, people. Scattered all over the United States.
Here is an updated map of where all the Mosque's are. Look and weep for our Country.

Feds Worry Over Al-Qaeda Use of Mexican Border
"New intelligence information strongly suggests that Al Qaeda has considered infiltrating the United States through the Mexican border, top government officials told Congress on Wednesday,"
according to the AP. "In his written testimony, Admiral Loy cited recent information from investigations and detentions as the basis for his concern about the Mexican border. He added, "Several Al Qaeda leaders believe operatives can pay their way into the country through Mexico and also believe illegal entry is more advantageous than legal entry for operational security reasons."

The map is obviously out-of-date because there are no terror networks listed for New Somalia. :-/ Didn't the first mosque open in Dover-Foxcroft? Gotta be a couple in Portland by now, not to mention Lewistan.

Looks to me like, contrary to oft-repeated statements here, the government is concernced about illegals or they wouldn't be looking for and finding tunnels.
Good job by our agents.

The way we secure that border, I am surprised that it doesn't have 8 lanes and built in cellular coverage.

One post in another thread yesterday was about a woman who lived in the border area (TX, I think it was). She reported an average of 193 illegals crossing her property every hour of every days.
[The infiltration is unbelievable. Even more astounding is the fact that our elected don't perceive it as a problem. Another 9-11 sized attack by illegals, and those politicians might wish they had done more; just allowing them to retire might be too good for them.]

Yeh. A couple of years ago, one news report showed a newly discovered tunnel. You could have a pick-up or van through it. Literally. It also had a stream of electric lights. It wasn't made by just some guy digging a hole under a fence. It was built for significant traffic and transportation.

The glaring lack of attention to the Mexican border is suspicious in itself.. The Mexican border is being UNmanned on PURPOSE... WHY.? .This article is about agents finding a tunnel. That demonstrates
a) They are paying attention
and
b) By definition not "UNmanned".
