Actually, when you come right down to it, it makes no sense putting young and healthy folks in jail for an herb that makes them feel better. Flame resistant suit ON.

As long as we tolerate legal alcohol, anti-marijuana policy is pure hypocrisy.

"... said Bruce Mirken, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project"

It is the stated goal of the Marijuana Policy Project to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. Oh yeah, and medical use.

Not that I'm for legalization of Pot. But if it helps people who have cancer then by all means let them have it. That ain't gonna happen though because drug companies can't see a way to make a profit from something that can be grown naturally....

"It’s a no-brainer. It makes no sense putting old and sick folks in jail for an herb that makes them feel better," said Bruce Mirken, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project

Consistent with the disconnect from reality and rationality of dopers and their advocates.

There are no old and sick people in jail for using marijuana.

These guys are just like the liberals (well they are liberals) in their single minded obsession wherein a minor issue is put up as one of major importance.

The world revolves around them and their longing to get stoned.

I think it would be good policy for Republicans to legalize marijuana...why do you think the so-called massive youth vote for Kerry evaporated on election day?

Two extremely profitable industries that will resist change to the status quo are the current US tax system and the war on drugs.

Far too many laywers are making money off both to allow these cash cows to be taken from them.

Why do I single out lawyers?

Who make the laws in this country?

OK cue the usual arguments from the usual participants. This is much like the Global Warming debate... a little bit of data, correlations that some insist show causation and arguments tainted with more passion than reason. But hey, argue away... if it feels good do it, ain't nobody's business but your own.

Ever learn the history on why pot was criminalized? It has something to do with one man's crusade to stop our our daughters from losing their innocence to those crazed pot smoking jazz musicians from the 20's or something like that. Saw it on the history channel.

What problem do you have with adults taking a puff of a product that was LEGAL in most of this country until the 1930s?

We can end this debate right now.

Medical uses for Alcohol = 0
Medical uses for Marijuana = a few

Addictive properties:

alcohol: yes
marijuana: no

All the people who died from an overdose of alcohol last year. Plenty.

All the people who ever died from an overdose of marijuana.
None.

Now, raise your hand if you think alcohol should be legal (and it is).

Raise your hand if you think marijuana should be illegal.

If you raised your hand both times, you are an idiot.
