Alvarez's estranged wife said he threatened her and her family and threatened to abduct their 3-year-old son, although he never physically assaulted her, according to a request for a temporary restraining order that was granted Dec. 14, The Associated Press reported.
"He threatened to take our kid away and to hurt my family members," Carmelita Alvarez said. "He is planning on selling his vehicle to buy a gun and threatened to use it. He is using drugs and has been in and out of rehab twice."

Alvarez, a U.S. citizen, watched as the train barreled into his SUV shortly after 6 a.m.
"He was found right at the scene," [Glendale Police Chief Randy] Adams said. "The suspect has admitted placing his vehicle on the tracks."

U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek said there is potential federal jurisdiction with a possible death penalty in the case.

Re the use of "sheetheads," I call it baiting the bigots who hide behind otherwise legitimate concerns about the illegal immigration issue, and flog it constantly for their own ugly purposes.
The superficial self-inflicted wounds, plus getting out of the SUV at the last minute, would lend credence to the theory that he didn't want to live, but he didn't really want to die, either. In other words, he couldn't sh-- OR get off the pot.
I don't think his court-appointed lawyers will be successful in supressing anything he said to the police before he was arrested.
There's no harm in it whatsoever. The harm comes when, as PRND21, pointed out, some people care mostly about the perp's race than about the crime committed. The harm comes when some people almost desperately want a mass murderer like this to be an illegal so they can use him to flog their political purposes. That is true racism of a very ugly sort.
I hope not, but as you might be able to tell from some of my comments, I don't have much faith in our legal system here in California.
Oh, I see, so if someone comes on here and says this thread reeks of perverted baby rapers, and you respond, that makes you a twisted pervert?
What utter nonsense.
Well, I was trying to be polite. :-) If it happened here in NC, an insanity defense would go over about as well as it would in TX or FL.
Yeah.. As a normal Freeper, you can't imagine the dismay I felt that this Mexican wasn't illegal. I mean he's a Mexican right?! Heck he doesn't even look like an American! Where are his blue eyes and blond hair. Hmmmphhhh hardly befitting of the master race....

States in which a majority have good old-fashioned common sense, as well as a sense of true justice. As you know, California is not so blessed. There's much that I love about this state, but it's politics (and resulting judicial system) are not among the things I admire.
Huh?! I have to admit it. You lost me, there, Joe.
I have no doubt about that.
As opposed to what - those who desperately wanted him to be a US citizen?
I still don't get it. Whats the matter with preferring it be an illegal and not a fellow American?
I am inclined to believe he was not born here. I think to prove a point the author would have stated where he was born. My thoughts are that he and his family were given citizenship when Clinton legalized millions to vote.
Well, apparently you're not going to explain what you meant by that phrase that you originally used in your post #42 on this thread (I won't post the phrase anymore). By the way, your post #42 has been removed by the moderators, so apparently they were a bit displeased with you using that particular phrase.
American citizen, huh? Too bad. Were he an Illegal Alien, Vicente Foxx-the Latino Jesse Jackson, would be playing the race and politically correct cards, big time.
Fortunately for Juan he is a doper-maybe he's not afraid of needles.
Your certainly making a big deal over what a few people have said over the internet.
The "perp" will be classified as a "Caucasian" by the U.S. Dept. of Justice because there is such a race as Hispanic.
The harm comes when some people almost desperately want a mass murderer like this to be an illegal so they can use him to flog their political purposes. That is true racism of a very ugly sort.
It seems that you need to take a look in a mirror since your using "an illegal" and "racism" in the same statement. Being an illegal alien has nothing to do with race. You seem to be jumping to the same conclusion as others because of the killers last name.
Excellent. The only question left is does he get Death (Life in Solitary on "Death Row") or Life (Life in General Population until he's paroled because of "Overcrowding").
And it would've been Bush's fault...
Joe, I have to hit the road momentarily. But first let me briefly try to clarify how I look at it.
Illegal immigration is, in my opinion, a critical matter that must be resolved. I am not wise enough to know how best to resolve it. But like you and most people to the right of center in the political spectrum, I want it stopped.
All people who want illegal immigration stopped are not bigots. However, many bigots hide behind and flog the issue to suit their own bigoted purposes. Not all such people are obvious, but many are, due to the statements they make.
Other people who are intense about this issue may not be bigots at all. They just tend to let their frustrations turn them into hotheads and rigid dogmatists who frequently mistake the intentions of people who largely agree with them, yet approach the issue with cooler heads.
I don't know for certain into which category you belong, but you can find out for yourself if you are able to identify the several truly bigoted comments on this thread.
