The harm comes when some people almost desperately want a mass murderer like this to be an illegal so they can use him to flog their political purposes.

As opposed to what - those who desperately wanted him to be a US citizen?

I still don't get it. Whats the matter with preferring it be an illegal and not a fellow American?

Skeeter, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and take this as an honestly meant question. The answer, as I see it, depends on the reason why someone would prefer that the perp was illegal vs. an American citizen. But the bottom line still is, what difference does it make? The dude killed at least 11 people. Where he was born, and what citizenship he holds doesn't change that.
