Hi, gang,
I was a regular contributor to the Kerry Online Forum and am now a regular contributor to the Common Ground Common Sense forum. I am a liberal, but I'll be the first to admit, I don't have all the answers. In fact, many of hte questions that matter to me probably matter to you too. I'm concerned with questions about how to tame power, whether governmental or corporate. I'm concern with the rule of law and how we can get the powerful to take it seriously. I'm concerned with the erosion of civil liberties. And yes, I am concerned about some things you may associate with liberalism--social safety nets and taking care of those who fall through the institutional cracks.
I'm here because I think agreement is overrated and that critics can be your best friends: they keep you from getting sloppy or careless. At any rate, I think there are things I can learn from you. I don't expect you are all agreed on anything--I expect there is a lot of diversity of opinion here. If you are interested in what I have said over at Common Ground Common Sense, I'm using the same handle both places, and you should feel free to come over and look around.
Anyway, I'm new here. Anybody care to give me a tour?

Interesting title to your post. What is it you want to learn? I'm not sure your statement is all that genuine, guess it does not really matter.
You were asked for the link to your site that you mentioned in your paragraph, I have not seen a response to that question.
I am curious why you did not ask to dialog civily,of course ,with opposing views, those on the left and right usually want to educate the other as to why they think as they do.
Nonetheless, welcome. I for one look forward to understanding why liberals think as they do, why they think that their favorite programs really helps.
Here is my first suggestion: Get back to the middle of America.
The more than you embrace Michael Moore, the more elections you'll lose.

You will probably learn, among other things, that the foundational belief of most of the participants (e.g. "conservatives") is that mankind is endowed by a Creator with individual freedom and individual responsibilty for one's actions. We also have a fair share of conservative atheists and they generally receive a respectful hearing because they are likewise opposed to having their lives managed by an elected or unelected "elite".
Belief in individual liberty also happens to be the foundation of what can be called "classical liberalism". The current version of "liberalism", IMHO, is more closely akin to statism and its offspring, socialism (national and otherwise).
If Statism (the more power and control by the State and its functionaries the better) is your viewpoint you may be in for a very bumpy ride.

and, from a manufacturing standpoint anyhow, I'd use them to keep jobs here and provide disincentives for overseas moves unless they are for export only.
Protectionism is part of the problem, not the solution.
Government interference in business, in the absence of the violation of rights, is the problem that leads to corporate power abuse.
Abolish all subsidies and most regulation, eliminate redundant taxation, and be zealous in the discovery and prosecution of fraud and other violations of rights, and you fix whatever problems which exist on corporate abuse.
Sure, when I figure out how to post threads here. I think what I will probably do is to post the threads in the appropriate forum here, so you can refer back to what I said. At the moment, I'm just finding my way around. Thanks for asking though. I'd be happy to give specific links.
LOL! If you are open minded ( I know liberals champion like they are, but in reality they are not I will provide the case in point later) , then you will realize how wrong the Liberals are on all the issues. Liberals feel only, and do not think.

To a lib, the rule of law is what the courts say, including non-elected, unaccountable, activist judges. To a conservative, the rule of law is developed by elected legislators.
My unsolicited advice: ignore the ad hominems and stick with an argument until you win, admit defeat, or agree to disagree. Most every liberal poster I've seen here has been of the hit-and-run variety, an approach guaranteed to annoy and inflame.
