Every person has stem cells in their body, in numerous places. In your bones. In your ears. In your throat. In your nose. In fact, they have found ways to cuture these cells, and any positive results that could come from stem cells would be best of all if your own cells were used.

Often, whenever anyone remotely likable dies, a host of FReepers instantly pronounce that he is in Heaven, evidently for no other reason than that they liked him/her.

Because that is our great hope Dan. And because it is a kindness. Much as some people seem to want the job, thankfully God does not task us with the hard job of deciding who actually gets the door locked on them. We aren't qualified.

Surfing this morning to find out more about Mr. Reeve, I made the mistake of stopping on Imus. His little sidekick was giving Mr. Reeve's obit and Imus interrupted with, "Brought to you by Bigelow Tea."

There was laughter in the control room while Imus' little friend went postal on Imus about interrupting. Not only will Dems use a dead man for political gain but they'll use him to get a laugh, too.

I have to agree with BibChr. People often pronounce those who die that they have been made "whole". This was an interesting phenomenon with my mother when she died. Even though she was an exceptionally "difficult" person who no one could find anything nice to say and an avid non-believer, the response was "she's in a better place".

Not only did Reeves appear to have no belief in God, but his efforts to promote embryonic stem cell research was only because he thought it would help him. Sadly, if we are going to be true to the scriptures, you cannot get to Heaven without faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. About the only thing we can say is that judgment is in God's hands and he is before the throne. Just as we all will be someday.

Apart from a clear and credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ, we have no grounds for assured statements of a person's afterlife destiny. But I've never either made pronouncements of the contrary, and believe them equally wrong. I only know for sure of three human individuals in Hell by name: Judas, Antichrist, and the False Prophet. Though there will be untiold scores of others, I don't know their names, and am completely content with that fact.

I am equally repulsed by FReepers who declare the glorified state of deceased folks who had no credible profession of faith, AND their confident damnation of them. Farthest I'll go in such cases is to say something to the effect of, "That's sad; he seemed to be a man who could not afford to die."

It is no kindness to foster the false notion that, if you're well-liked or do a few nice things (or many of them), that guarantees you eternity in Heaven.

Nor is there anything humble about putting forth notions about eternity that oppose what Jesus repeatedly taught (Matthew 7:21-27; John 14:6; etc. ad inf.).

If it is improper for us to pronounce someone whose life showed no trace of living faith in Jesus Christ to be certainly damned (as I believe it is), it is equally improper to pronounce such a person saved.

That's Christopher Reeve in a tounge wrestling lip lock with Michael Caine.

My point is that some people spend their entire lives breaking down traditional morality and then when they die they are eulogized as if they did as much for the world as Mother Theresa.

Reeves spent his last few years advocating the destruction of human life in order to find a cure for what ailed HIM. It may have seemed selfless to some, but in reality and objectively, it was selfish. He was looking for a cure and if it meant the destruction of unborn children to acheive that end, then too bad for them. He was not willing to let a fetus stand between him and his goalpost.

Joni Erickson Tada was quoted this morning as saying that most, if not all, progress in stem cell research has come from the use of adult stem cells. The only true value in embryonic stem cell research is in finding a way to scientifically justify abortion on demand.

I see. So it would be in poor taste to criticize the ideas and activism of Karl Marx and Jim Jones as well, because they are dead and therefore beyond criticism.

Sorry, but Mr. Reeve is not beyond criticism just because he failed to outlive his evil agenda.
