The majority do not appear to be attending protests, showing up at social events, signing up for FRN, or thanking the hosts of the daily threads that run here at FR.
Maybe things will be better when we're rid of everyone who won't go with the flow and just toe the line.
Some of us worked with JohnRob on a continual basis helping him ferret out mutliple screen names.
Some of us have had our homes, places of employment called, e-mailed and otherwise harassed.
Well, crap then...I guess I just better hop on board 100% before they come and cart me away...

My reference was specific....those members of an organization or group who do nothing but whine, complain, needle, insult, try to bring down the leader or owner, or negatively use an organization's forum just for their own entertainment.
They never participate in positive activities or provide any modicum of verbal support. In my opinion, they are leeches, hypocrites and carry zero weight with me.
As I pointed out very clearly, we have our share of these keyboard jockeys and attention-seekers whose only participation in FR for years has been to condemn it and try to pick away at the management. Their endless trash-typing is their life recreation. It's amazing how they stick like Jiffy-Glu to any organization they consider to be so awful.

Most of them have a long-established history with Free Republic that you don't seem to be aware of.
Some like Hepp and OWK and Daus have paid a high price for actively and vocally supporting and defending Free Republic and standing up for Jim at times when many of his friends were screwing him over and bailing out, trashing him in the process.
I certainly believe it entitles them to a minimum amount of respect, because these guys were carrying the load for years without being asked to. They stepped up to the plate and did it, because someone had to.
They were "supportive" in THEIR own way, and it hardly included trying to bring down Jim or Free Republic.
These guys were THE front line for Free Republic when people were actively trying to send Jim to jail, to close the site down, to disrupt and troll the forum...and they paid some high prices for it.
I'm not even sure who your remarks were intended for, but just in case you meant OWK, Daus, Hepp, Tpaine---I want you to know that you're wrong about them. They were the worker bees for a long time, Leni.

Like with ever myth or legend there is always a grain of truth. The trick for you is to see that grain rather than dismiss the whole thing outright. I found it interesting that his statements about the banning mirrored my own without my having known any of the history you two have. That has always been my complaint and will remain so until things change. That said, Registered has some great points in Post #17.
Get off it OWK, you weren't there and have no idea what happened. Joe was upset by Jim's change in direction, but less so than what he perceived to be a drop in monthly donors. He got into a personal fight with a couple mods and demanded that Jim remove them. When Jim didn't, he left, on his own accord. BadJoe is still registered and hasn't had his account removed.
Obviously I wasn't there.
I know only what I see presented from both sides.
I know Joe pretty well.
Did he react poorly?
Yeah, I think he probably did. (I've already said that quite a few times).
Is he a good man?
Yes, I think he is.
Was his heart in the right place?
Yes, I think it was.

Being a technical guy, this bugs me. I want to know how it is done. :-)
He threatened to out the mods besides Dales and feminazi unless the mods confirmed his story about those two doing "drivebys" and using their power to bait and persecute enemies. Joe has never given any proof of it--and the other mods certainly did not back him up. Was he lying?
He could've come here and taken it back up, but he didn't. Hiding out at LP and taking cheap shots at Jim from the gallery seats is so....well--not exactly being a good guy. Calling Jim a liar from two forums over isn't what one would expect from a friend.
The forum is always going to be chaotic. You know that. Jim learned a few lessons the hard way--he's made it clear that he's a lot more cautious now about who is involved in what, around FR.
BTW: I saw your remarks on the thread at LF where those people were egging each other on to "report" FR and copy threads to turn in to the Fresno HRC. Good for you for calling them on it. You can't get much lower than using a govt agency to harass people--even freeps.
