You apparently misread my post. In every organization, no matter what type or size it is, it always boils down to a certain small percentage of worker bees and activists who actually carry the load in big or small ways. There's nothing intrinsically bad about this, it's just the way human nature is. Not everyone has the time, preference or physical ability for waving flags on street corners, for instance. But they are supportive in their own ways.

My reference was specific....those members of an organization or group who do nothing but whine, complain, needle, insult, try to bring down the leader or owner, or negatively use an organization's forum just for their own entertainment.

They never participate in positive activities or provide any modicum of verbal support. In my opinion, they are leeches, hypocrites and carry zero weight with me.

As I pointed out very clearly, we have our share of these keyboard jockeys and attention-seekers whose only participation in FR for years has been to condemn it and try to pick away at the management. Their endless trash-typing is their life recreation. It's amazing how they stick like Jiffy-Glu to any organization they consider to be so awful.

Quoting myself in my above post about how amazing it is that the FR-trashers hang around her for years like glue without ever being supportive....I just read on another thread regarding these Flame Warriors:

I didn't misread your post at all. In THIS organization, you're trying to lecture people who bearded a rather large lion in its den for a long time, on behalf of Jim, and this forum.

Most of them have a long-established history with Free Republic that you don't seem to be aware of.

Some like Hepp and OWK and Daus have paid a high price for actively and vocally supporting and defending Free Republic and standing up for Jim at times when many of his friends were screwing him over and bailing out, trashing him in the process.

I certainly believe it entitles them to a minimum amount of respect, because these guys were carrying the load for years without being asked to. They stepped up to the plate and did it, because someone had to.

They were "supportive" in THEIR own way, and it hardly included trying to bring down Jim or Free Republic.

These guys were THE front line for Free Republic when people were actively trying to send Jim to jail, to close the site down, to disrupt and troll the forum...and they paid some high prices for it.

I'm not even sure who your remarks were intended for, but just in case you meant OWK, Daus, Hepp, Tpaine---I want you to know that you're wrong about them. They were the worker bees for a long time, Leni.

Your exposure to organizational theory is aparently pretty limited. No well run organization would suffer from what you describe above. It does frequently occur, but is often caused by the worker bee's doing their best to keep the circle small (read non-competitive) and themselves important to who the perceive as the Queen.

Organizations such as these often choke on the oppresive yes-man/woman syndrome, all hoping to appease the Queen while protecting it from the nasty outsiders.

So I show up here every once in a while to kick the hive and hope, for the sake of what FR could be, that someone wakes up and utilizes this place to it's full potential. If not, see you next year when the next hive revolt occurs...
