My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Thanks Argh - Flurry saw a poem my son wrote yesterday and commented about his talent - (he's 12) - Flurry has been writing these great poems on Word For The Day so he wrote one for my son. I might add that he wrote this in about 20 minutes this morning.....
"Young Patriot"
From Texas hails a Patriot,
Who loves his Country so.
He loves the Freedoms we possess,
And wants the world to know.
That people fought and many died,
So we can have this place.
The US is a wondrous land,
Where God has shed his grace.
Support our troops and keep them safe,
Dont ever put them down.
Cause if you do youd best watch out,
When Brian comes to town.
So watch your mouth about our men,
And burn that protest sign.
He may be only twelve years old,
But he will draw a line.
Dont make him mad for he is wise,
Yes way beyond his years.
Id hate to see him take that sign,
And smash it tween your ears.

A Flag fer the Presidint

"Will you make me a flag, Ma?" queried the little boy.
A real one fer flyin', not jest a toy?"
"My son, I phaps c'uld, but I'd ruther, my honey,
Buy a brand spankin' new one - cept we ain't got the money."
"I know you don't Ma, but you got you some thread,
An' that ol' sewin' chine that sets by yore bed."
"Well, I reckin' yer right son, now that's an idee,
Fetch me our rag bag, and let's have a look-see.
The stars they'll be easy- I got this old sheet.....
An' the blue from them over-alls shore w'uld look neat.
We kin use this old quilt fer the stripes o' white,
It shore suited Grandma on a cold winter nite.
Here's a strip o' red from the perjammers you wore,
An' nother one from that piece I bought to the store.
Here's a bit from your Daddy's cowboy shirt
An' the red checkered flannel he wore when he'd flirt.
"Now, how many's that, let's see, that'd be four........
Hmmmm....My red flannel nitie, that'd work for shore.
Now son, keep on lookin', you got any other?
Oh, that red checkered ging'am was a shirt for yore brother!
Jest one more piece will settle this-------
Well if my eyes ain't spotted Mama's dotted swiss,
That she wore to the picnic at ol' Mill Bluff
Where she met your granddaddy, ol' ruff and tuff.
"Enuff o' that ramblin.' Let's put her tagether,
An' see if she'll fly in this Hoosier wether.
"Now there, my son, I reckon she's done,
I hope that you like her, she's not like the bought ones."
"Oh, Ma, she's so purty, she's the best of em all,
An' I know when he gits it he'll come round fer a call."
"Gits it? What's the meanin' o' that?"
"Well, Ma, I dint tell ya on account o' yer nervusmint,
But the flag aint fer me, it's fer the Presidint.
Ya see, Ma, he's so busy an' worried.
The cuntry's all jangled, it's got him all hurried. I'm thinkin' it might he'p him to have his own flag,
And I know that he'll love that it's from our rag bag.
Culd you write a note, Ma, culd ya please?
Sayin':"
Dear Presidint Bush,
Here is my dollare. I earnt it rakin' leaves fer Mr. Webster. Ma makes me pray ever day for them younguns in Afganerstant. We also are sendin' you a flag fer yer own. This flag is just chocked full o' good stuff cause it come outta our rag bag and the stuff kinda hugged everbody. So I'm thinkin' that makes this flag like our hug to you. I shore am mad at them terrist people, an' Ma and me do wanna thank ya fer tryin' to do somthin' about it.
Sincerly,
Me and my Ma.
"Thanks, Ma, you shore done good."

Three excellent selections thanks for sharing. I'm watching Johnny Cash on CMT right now and the dial up at home is too slow to hang with FR. Got grass to mow and neighbors to yell at. See ya later on.

Good morning Flurry. Don't you just love weekend chores?
FYI, the rotating smiley also has a song. Lots of people miss that, it's a sneaky way to add a song.

Navy Heritage

I would speak to you of legacy, of heritage, of lore...
Of Bosn's pipes, and Seaman's stripes, and far exotic shores
Of cannon's blaze, and battle's haze 'cross sunset's brilliant hues
Of Jones' creed, and Perry's deeds and jackets dyed of blue
Of Decatur's triumphs at Tripoli, of Farragut's daring raid,
Of Gridley's bidding his Commodore's will on the Galleons of Manila Bay
Of Peary beneath the Northern Lights to stake his country's claim
Of Byrd's enduring Antarctica...of memories of the Maine
Of days that live in infamy, of the daunting sixth of June
Of boys who too soon became men, of men who died too soon
Of Corpsmen on a mountaintop, of Tarawa's crimson sand,
Of Kamikazes vicious toll to save a conquered land
Of Nautilus' historic jaunt beneath a sea of ice,
Of Thresher and her lesser fate...her grand and awful price
Of Mekong Delta's deadly plains and they who bear the scars...
Of men who dared to dream of flight - and danced amongst the stars
Of those who reigned a righteous storm across a desert's face,
Of ships called Stark and Iowa...of courage tinged with grace,
Of Cole, who answered duty's call to disregard her fears,
Of Ensigns shred to staunch the flow of blood and sweat and tears...
I would speak to you of legacy, of heritage, of lore,
But speak to you of destiny - and greatness yet in store

Wonderful music and a wonderful sweet poem about the Navy.
Thanks SAM.

It was only yesterday, it seems
Now almost like a dream
When in my soul a fire you lit
Writing, writing, I could not quit.
Then a woman with a spirit so dark
Sent me a summons which doused my spark
To take my son away from me
Was her aim, it was plain to see.
So I set down my pen of love
And turned my back on the peace of the dove.
I painted my face in the colors of war
And set out to fix the wagon of that ___
Now today, soon after the sun will rise
I will be in the court, answering her lies.
I will not use rhymes on this day so bleak
But truth I pray will prevail as I speak
I ask you all, friends and strangers, alike
To ask God to make sure that the outcome is right
Oh Lord my God, in desperation I lift up my voice
I cry out to you, help the judge with her choice
Give her discernment, let her see through the witch
That she is no mom, she is just a self serving ____

A Pause, Before Knuckling Down!
Silence, it reflects the feelings in our hearts back to us like a mirror of the soul,
making us pause and reconsider the gravity of the moment, the depth of the pain.
9/11 will always be THE MOMENT the world stood still, and we understood the words, death toll,
a crushing blow of mortality we all reacted too, and we found a new start again.
Enemies without, within, beset us along the way like tests of our resolve,
and we must struggle to rise above them and stand for the fallen, our duty clear.
It is time to reaffirm the path we set ourselves on that day, a problem we have to solve,
and those to find and render mute, the enemies who owe us dear.
Observe a moment of silence and take some time to reflect with care,
and then put your hat back on and get to work, your duty calls.
Keep America a shining light to fill the dark of hate, to keep her standing there,
a bastion of the love of God, and the stripes and stars, amid these honored halls.

A Soldier He is that fallen lance that lies as hurled,
That lies unlifted now, come dew, come rust,
But still lies pointed as it ploughed the dust.
If we who sight along it round the world,
See nothing worthy to have been its mark,
It is because like men we look too near,
Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere,
Our missiles always make too short an arc.
They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect
The curve of earth, and striking, break their own;
They make us cringe for metal-point on stone.
But this we know, the obstacle that checked
And tripped the body, shot the spirit on
Further than target ever showed or shone.
Robert Frost
Trike, I have a couple of sites that are still available for music. Some of them come and go faster than you can keep up with them. How's it going?
