The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hi everyone! Sorry I wasn't here to serve breakfast, but I see that texasgal took care of it for me! (Thanks TG!!)
I went on 2 interviews today...the first one at my sister's place of employment and the second at an accounting firm. The pay rates are about the same (low 30's), but at the accounting firm I'd have my own office and plenty of flexibility. The down side is that they only offer insurance for me and I'd have to pay for my 2 girls' insurance out of pocket, so it would eat up any difference in salary.
So, long story short, I'm placing my largest hope in ADP (sister's company) and, if nothing else, I am certain that one of the two others (accounting firm or mortgage place) will make me an offer. *sigh* I despise job-hunting, especially when it brings to light just how spoiled I've become at my current job.
I'll be by later on, once the kids are in bed and things quiet down.
Oh, and sand burrs are indeed the nastiest things around.
ksen - I knw what you mean about certain movies having an evil tone, whilst others are just gory and gross. The Ring was not a movie I care to watch again. It left an awful impression. *shudder*

Hey guys,
Thanks for the warm wishes. I took a ton of ibuprofin and some caffeine and got through Monday somehow, though I wish I'd felt lousy enough to stay home from work. Am going to try to go walk or something in the sunshine, I think it'll help.
Your kind thoughts really help, though!

Thing is, I understand all the words, but I don't have one CLUE as to what they are talking about, let alone who is agreeing or disagreeing.
It's like a big tossed word salad!

then just post the same thing lots of times! Ain't that purty much how we got to our fourth thread?
To: 2Jedismom
Er... well, I never take more than two ibuprofin but today I felt so lousy I took two batches of four. I've been told by someone who should know that this merely knocks it up to perscription strength, and certainly it made me feel human again. Should I not do that? Do I have to suffer?

But, the impression I get, is that of a bunch of people endlessly arguing the finer points of basically unanswerable questions.
I'm glad WE don't have debates like that over here.......now, why did PJ edit TTT the way he did?
There is a great difference, Ksen. A heated debate about Peter Jacksons editing of a movie from a book is just that, a movie and a book, both temporal. Christianity and ones faith is eternal and the stakes are much higher. There are a lot of young Christians and unbelievers on the Free Republic site. In addition, there are many here who are new to the whole conservative political scene. I do not want to get into some theological discussion here, as I dont think this is the place for it, but I do feel that a gentle reminder may be in order here. Everything is permissible-but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible-but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. 1Cor.10; 23,24
Concerning the movie The Ring, I am in total agreement with you. My daughter who is a senior attending a Christian university went to see it with a group of fellow classmates, some were guys, also seniors. The guys got so scared they were screaming out loud in the theater. Aimee said she will never go see that movie again and will not permit it to be shown in their apartments there on campus. Aimee can watch movies that I cant get through. If any of you are considering bringing this movie into your home, I would be prayed up and caution your children. My views for what they are worth.

I saw "The Ring" when I went to visit my friend in July. It was rather creepy. Not a good creepy, like "Sixth Sense". I think perhaps because there was nothing redeeming in Ring, and no real ending.
My friend, however, suggested that it feels wrong to Americans because it is merely an American version of a Japanese film called "Ringu", and what we see as weird or even evil is partly due to cultural misunderstandings.
That said... I didn't feel violated, or evil, after watching it, but it was definitely disturbing. Remember we're told to think on "whatever is good, whatever is true".... and "The Ring" will make you dwell on its ideas instead...
