The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

The simple act of sharing prayer requests and the "fruit" of caring about someone's life is good enough for me on a thread. And, at the end of the day, that's what we're all about.

And, at the end of the day, that's what we're all about. Yes. And at the end of the day, some of us are all about backgammon. ;~D

Yes, but that's about "preying" not "praying"...

But, the impression I get, is that of a bunch of people endlessly arguing the finer points of basically unanswerable questions. I'm glad WE don't have debates like that over here.......now, why did PJ edit TTT the way he did?

Did you and JR watch that flick yet? I'm interested in your take on it.
I'm debating if it may be demonic or not.....the whole thing just felt "wrong."

Nope, we haven't watched it yet. Wife didn't want to Saturday and last night I had to finish what I didn't get done while I was at the pool all afternoon yesterday. (not swimming, trying to get rid of the green)
To: ksen
After we watched that, my little brother said he felt it was "evil", and that maybe MOST horror movies are evil. Because they just make you feel upset and paranoid...which good things don't.
I don't know that I'd go that far, but it was definitely icky. And I spent most of it with my eyes covered asking my brothers what was happening. The first death was as much as I could take.
To: ksen
Supposedly the original (Ringu, in Japanese) was much scarier, too. I can't imagine that. Our local video place just got it in. I'm ALMOST curious, but not enough to go through that (and possibly worse!) again.

For the record ksen, I only decided to see this after you talked about watching it...
Later folks.

Because they just make you feel upset and paranoid...which good things don't.I know what your brother means. There are movies, like the Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street franchises which are just gross and campy. Those feel a whole different then movies like The Ring, The Amityville Horror, and The Exorcist.
I don't know if I'd be ready to call it demonic, and trust me, I'm not the kind of guy to blame everything on demons, but there was something that put The Ring on a whole 'nuther level.
Corin, you may want to screen before letting Jr watch. I know I wouldn't let my 12-year old daughter watch, and I let her watch stuff like Signs, but it's your call.

Least PJ won't have THAT to use for ROTK. Hehehe....I can see Denethor in the Library at Minas Tirith feverishly shredding documents as the forces of Mordor break the gates!
