The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I've heard we're having a problem around the neighborhood with those vermin knockin' over garbage cans and such.

Ya'll too huh? I didn't know those blasted things were so widespread!

I've always loved the blue ones. My first year away from home - in Germany - I bought a little artificial tree (we weren't allowed to have real ones in the dorms) and did it all in blue. It was gorgeous...IMO, at least!

I just have a problem with EVERYONE using icicle lights. Boooooring!

There's a family at the top of the hill near my house that has a lovely display...they have a big border of trees around their house - little trees, bushes, really, about four feet high. Each tree is a solid color...a whole row of different colored trees. I like that a lot.

I shouldn't be here... should be finishing my homework... but this is more fun. One assigment, one test, and I'm free until after Entmoot.

27 in a 15 zone. 12 over the limit, $230.00 fine.
School zone. Was thinking about something else. 2 tickets in 6 months, only 5 my entire life. Took me 30 years to get the first 3.

I've sparred with that loser before. He doesn't have arguments, just fights.

There's probably any number of people in the world who's music or acting has been good enough that I've become a fan... and whom have views with which I would vehemently disagree if I knew them. They have perhaps merely been smart enough to stay tightlipped in order to not tick off half of their fan base.

I shudder to think what PJ's politics really are, but I don't really care. As far as I know he hasn't taken public stands on anything, like Iraq, and that's a smart move either way.

Robert Redford made some good movies too, and his politics are simply of no interest to me. Yes, there's a line I won't cross when it gets to Jane Fonda, but boycotting her movies is sortof a false feelgoodism on my part. I just don't like them anyway. For me it's like boycotting brussels sprouts. It might feel good to call it a boycott, but it would just be sound and fury signifying nothing.

How did the trip home go? Better?

Hard to comprehend that it's just about a month until Entmoot. It doesn't quite seem real yet...

That sounds very nice. Each tree different.

Icicle lights were really nice when you first started seeing them. But, now in my neighborhood - that's what 90% of the homes with decor have. And like you said - boring!!!

I think blue lights only on a tree are gorgeous too! The blue against evergreen foliage is breathtaking to me. But, then I like green and blue anyways.

Oh dear Sam. That is really bad. Do they double the fines there for school zones? They do here. UGH. Friend of mine got one a couple of years ago for 3 MPH over the limit in a school zone. Talk about wrong!

Ouch. But wait a sec... what time of day is it? If it was after school hours you might have a shot at reduction. I don't know how it is where you are but I think a "school zone" can only be enforced during school hours.

I had blue and gold...and Mom sent me a set of little white dove ornaments. White and blue and gold...and that green tree. It really looked nice.

I haven't had a tree of my own in awhile. Part of it is just because I now have a home to go to on Christmas and part of it is...that darned Tam! I think the other cats and the dog would leave a tree alone, but he wouldn't.

He's been a brat all day today. This morning I removed him from a place he wasn't supposed to be, so he promptly ran over and started sharpening his claws on the sofa, which he KNOWS he isn't supposed to do. He got yelled at for that, and then I caught him pushing papers off the table, for no reason at all. And on and on it goes. He's too smart for his own good sometimes.

Dang... but a couple of years ago I got a really *really* good deal on about a zillion icicle lights. That's what's out around the boathouse and the deck. I've even got about a dozen more strings I've never opened up cuz I don't have anyplace to put 'em.

I don't know.
But they got me fair and square, all the buses were lined up, I was just driving along in a dream world, like an idiot, on the way to the lumber yard, thinking about mastodons and stuff.
