The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I've been off running the dogs (off-leash) at Ft. Steilacoom park (where the new off-leash dog park is going in). Great place -- huge, absolutely huge. Dogs ran themselves silly for an hour and a half. It's a pretty quick trip from our house, only 15-20 minutes down Bridgeport to Custer to Steilacoom Drive.

I decided to play invalid - my knee is stiffening up! - and read. Then it was dinner.

We're about to watch some National Lampoon Thanksgiving movie. Doesn't have Chevy Chase so I doubt it's much good, but hey... can't watch "Planes Trains and Automobiles" til Wednesday, so...

Neato!

Do your dogs ever have trouble with other dogs in dog parks? - Gidget is just Alpha enough to cop an attitude when dogs approach her.

Good news is she doesn't go after them, she isn't particularly interested unless they invade her space.

Well, that is encouraging, WN. I am willing to talk to my friends about anything and I don't push things, and I have had, in the past, people say things to me about "I never knew Christians could be cool." So, who knows.

Jen, when I felt God was calling me into motorcycle ministry 13 years ago my pastor insisted that it was the enemy drawing me back into the world, not God. I tried to follow his council and deny the opportunities I had to spend time with my biker friends but God kept throwing opportunities at me. It took over a year before someone finally gave their life to the Lord - but the first who did was a stranger, because he saw my walk and realized I had a peace and joy that he wanted. After that, it seemed like the people I'd been hanging out with began to turn to God like dominoes falling! It was incredible!

Since then, I've learned that when I meet someone new, it takes a good while for them to be receptive to receiving the Lord for themselves but as long as I walk the walk and try to be upbeat and nonjudgemental about the sin in their lives, most end up wanting to receive Jesus. That doesn't just go for bikers. I have seen an uncounted number of co-workers turn to God because of prayers and the life of myself and other Christians. It just happens when you let the love of Jesus shine through you - so that it's Him people see. Folks just can't help themselves when they see Christ in you. And mostly, it's the ones you least expect who turn first! God is so cool!

No, mine are pretty good. Chance "protects" Melanie from other dogs if we stand around too much...and can get a bit aggressive. But the cure is easy, we just keep him moving and he's fine with other dogs.

Evenin' all. We are re-moved and set up with a new computer armoire (sp?). Okay it's a cheapo Office-Max version, but it works. And the configuration of the rooms is going to work as well.

I'm pooped.
