Actually, I'm takin' the little guys (well...younger...most of 'em are a lot bigger than me now!) to visit some friends on Saturday. I'll probably talk to their Mom a bit, but should also have free time. Since the van is plenty roomy, I SHOULD be able to bring the laptop and get in some writing while they play.

So that might be an hour or two there. Would help, anyway.

I've got a prayer request from the girl with whom I do the Parish Prayer line. It is for her sister-in-law Kathleen. This woman is being emotionally battered by her ex-husband, and her son is as well. The kid is 9 yrs. old, and has been shuffling back and forth between NYC and Atlanta for 4 yrs. The dad is continually mouthing off bad stuff about Kathleen, and treats her like dirt, then laughs about it with his son. His son is learning the exact WRONG way to treat women (the dad also treats his new wife the same way). Kathleen is paralyzed with fear that if she tries to fight him, he'll take Connor away, but if she DOESN'T do anything, she'll surely lose him. She has been resisting going to counseling, and even let Connor stop going when he said he didn't like it (after his dad talked to him about it, of course)

This woman needs to get a BDG (Big Damn Grip), so that's what we need prayers for. She needs to try to get loose from this man's emotional grip and quickly or she'll lose her son, even if he's still living with her!

Yes sir! I'm goin' fishin'. Leaving here tomorrow morning. Will be at MBY's Friday mid-day. It's about 600 miles so I'm splitting the trip down and stopping at home for the night tomorrow night. Means I can make my favorite aunt and uncle buy my supper! :-)

That's a very tough situation... an emotional tug-of-war like that would just about drive me insane - quite literally.

So have you seen the first two Lord of the Rings movies, or have you read the books? What did you think of them? My 15 yr. old daughter just loves them!

You do this sort of counseling, don't you? Got any suggestions for books to read, counselors in the NYC area? Her family members are literally at their wits end trying to get her to DO something! She is truly emotionally paralyzed!

Frankly what she needs are some big brothers to go down to Atlanta and beat the snot out of the guy, but I don't reckon that would help her much in the way of custody. Too bad.

I'm going through my photos, but aside from one lousy picture from when I got my first stripe, there isn't a lot to choose from...that may be my only choice.

Hullo everyone! Back from school.

My official GRE scores, with the writing section scored, came... I got 6 out of 6 on the writing, in addition to the 720V and the 780Q scores. I'm really, really happy and poised to do my applications now!

I always stand with my arms stiff...looking through all these photos and noticing this. My sister Margaret does the same thing...so did Mom, for that matter. It looks kinda funny!
