I've got a prayer request from the girl with whom I do the Parish Prayer line. It is for her sister-in-law Kathleen. This woman is being emotionally battered by her ex-husband, and her son is as well. The kid is 9 yrs. old, and has been shuffling back and forth between NYC and Atlanta for 4 yrs. The dad is continually mouthing off bad stuff about Kathleen, and treats her like dirt, then laughs about it with his son. His son is learning the exact WRONG way to treat women (the dad also treats his new wife the same way). Kathleen is paralyzed with fear that if she tries to fight him, he'll take Connor away, but if she DOESN'T do anything, she'll surely lose him. She has been resisting going to counseling, and even let Connor stop going when he said he didn't like it (after his dad talked to him about it, of course)
This woman needs to get a BDG (Big Damn Grip), so that's what we need prayers for. She needs to try to get loose from this man's emotional grip and quickly or she'll lose her son, even if he's still living with her!
That's a very tough situation... an emotional tug-of-war like that would just about drive me insane - quite literally.
I'll be praying for Kathleen!
