The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Those look great! I have more old yellowed photos than I can count right now, and half of them are drawn on, creased/cracked, or torn. Right now, we are in the process of simply identifying them (if you can call that simple).

I'll try just about anything once...but I'm not sure about snails. On the other hand, I knew a guy that LOVED 'em. He seemed relatively normal. One of my old electrical engineers loved the things. He was always wantin' 'em with his lunch when we'd go someplace that had 'em. I thought at the time it was just one of them EE freak things.

Here are the pictures of our new fence that we are putting up today in the rain! LOL
This first picture is of the frame and just getting started putting up the pickets...

Now this is a picture of what we see in our backyard...the back of the fence. We're making headway!

Here is the front of the fence!

I'll post a completed picture when we get it all done. Note the center panel? It is completely removable, just bolted on, for easy access to the easement.

The dinner went very well. Everything was hot and perfectly cooked and delicious, all together, even though I'm not so familiar with this barbecue pit. Most of the dishes served I usually make on the stove, but I was determined to make everything outside. Even the bread. It came out great!! I am queen of the back yard barbecue. ;)
I was expecting some rain from 'Grace' on Saturday and didn't get a drop. We watched some dark clouds roll overhead and some pretty lightening off to the south of us while we had dinner last night, but still no rain. That whole thing seemed to miss us completely. Nice breezes though.
And I hope the Fabian one misses us all, too. Glad to hear it is headed up and away. Scary looking storm.

Did I ever tell you that I have an important Marine in my life? God bless him... and your family...
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, the chickens are in the coop until we get the fence put up and they are very put out. We are under a lot of pressure!
LOL
I better go though...'fore I get into trouble.

The only reason we're having dolpin is because we couldn't get any manatees ;)
Seriesly, though, dolphin around here is a pelagic fish, not the lovable mammals, tho vaguely shaped like a dolphin mammal.

Aside from tasting and fighting good, dolphin are a beautiful fish. They are iridescent turquoise when viewed in the water from above. Once aboard, as they die, they rapidly change colors, you will see turquoise, gold, silver, green, blue, and then a washed out gold once they are dead. Watching the color change as they die, you'd think you killed a unicorn, it would be sad if you weren't so happy.
Anyway, looking forward to washing some down with a little rum in awhile.

Cool fence, 2J! I'm working on house plans today, that is if I ever get off the computer! LOL! Right now, I'm freeping and waiting for Clare's friends to get ready to leave. I'm giving the last two a ride home. They were up until about 5 am, and they slept until about 1pm!
To: RosieCotton
Why are you working TODAY? Did they get you IT folks in to calm the masses of students who are experiencing internet withdrawal?
To: SuziQ

Now if you want to try something good, try fried beef heart or baked beef tongue. Yummy. 'Course my cholestoral meds would go into orbit on those.

I don't know who they are, it's a pretty typical scene off Miami this time of year.
The boat I was on last week didn't have anyone quite so young aboard. But I figure we look Ok anyway. But I did used to be that age once. And I was still fishing for dolphin back then. Being out on the ocean is hard to beat, you feel so alive and aware and very physical and spiritual both at once.
