The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

OB,OT, &2J, we need tuh start thinkin' OKi-Mo-Moot II... Sounds good to me...maybe we can meet to see ROTK when it comes out? Like the next weekend?
A pre-Florida mini-moot?
My yard has a slight hill at the back of it...all along the back it has this rise...where the utilities run, back there in the easement. It's so hard to mow, I get Steve to do it. He doesn't mind, 'cause most the time I mow almost all the rest of the lawn. He can mow the whole hill in like 10 minutes, it takes me a half hour and nearly kills me because of the upper body strength needed and my mower (that Steve got me for my b-day) isn't "self-propelled".
I don't care for self propelled mowers...I feel like they are trying to run off from me all the time and it hurts my feelings! ;-)
Only thing is, I picked out the mower...this push mower that is cotton-pickin' HUGE and it's heavy! I wish I'd picked out a lighter, smaller model.
Oh well, some day I want a riding mower. Can you picture me on a riding mower, with leather gloves, safety glasses and sun bonnet??

I'm thinkin' that's how all you marines reach retirement age!
Did I ever tell you that I have an important Marine in my life? He was permanently disabled in Viet Nam but nevertheless is still a Marine to the core.
When Myranda's dad walked out on us he never looked back. Myranda had just turned 3, she was a daddy's girl and her dad didn't bother to visit even. At the divorce he terminated his parental rights. My Marine friend stood by and watched all this and gave his word to me and Myranda that he would stand by and be her dad from that day forward. That she would not ever be without a dad at a school function or any point in her life if it was in his power. He's stood by that. He is a great friend for me too. But, many people actually think he's Myranda's dad though he and I have ever only been friends.
For me, that action sums up Marine just as well as the regular fighting kind. He's been her dad 15 years now. Still is. Always will be if she'll let him.

Yep, it is. He's got medals and stuff from Viet Nam. But, for me, he deserves one just as big for steppin' in there for a little girl who was only the kid of a friend he rides motorcycles with. He is tops in my book!

Where's msdrby? She's over in Arlington, at her mom's. Austin stayed with Gramma last night. Msdrby went to retrieve him this evening, then started doing some kind of upgrade to mom's computer. I'm glad she has the patience to work with the infernal things. I can do the dirty stuff around here, like work on cars. I'll let Msdrby do the computers and other Hard stuff.

Well, I was wondering cause you said she was on the phone earlier. Just curious. You know, we are going to have to moot sometime! When the two of you are available and I can get over that way.
I was thinking earlier it's kind of a shame we didn't make arrangements with Bear and Rose to have a pit-stop in DFW on their drive back from Michegan. I'd have driven over there to meet 'em and ya'll could've come. It would have been a good plan - if I'd thought of it before they left!

Heck, you know if they have that Okla-MO moot on a Saturday, it's conceivable that we might could even make it there! I've been known to drive straight through a number of times from Austin to KC.

I LOVE my self propelled mower! I don't even want to THINK about how tough it would be to mow our yard without it! We have a very undulating back yard so that the water drains away from our walkout basement, so it is truly up and down hill all the time when I'm mowing!
