NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Dixie Chicks (news - web sites)' Natalie Maines has apologized to President George W. Bush (news - web sites) for am anti-war comment insult she made at a London concert.
"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful," the singer said Friday in a statement. "I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect."
Maines told the audience earlier this week, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
Angry phone calls flooded a Nashville radio station on Thursday, some calling for a boycott of the Texas trio's music. Two Dallas stations stopped playing the group's music because of Maines' comments.
The Dixie Chicks are touring Europe where Maines said Friday they are "witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war."
Maines said she is a mother and wants to see "every possible alternative exhausted" before lives are lost.
The Dixie Chicks will kick off a U.S. tour in support of their multi-platinum album "Home" on May 1 in Greenville, South Carolina. The group's hits include "Wide Open Spaces," "Ready to Run" and "Landslide."

"I don't want their type hanging around here. "
What?
Ya'll don't have no tall trees there?

I wonder if a few "targetting type posters" via republic's fine handiwork might make a better point for their treasonous arses?

I like the road billboard sign idea...the national media would pick it up and it would embarrass the hell outta them.
How can freep that which is not here?
You know Shawn and RUSH would put out the word..."Dallas, Texas has a billboard sign that tells the chicks to not come home!"

Those already stuck with concert tickets need to make the most of them: "W" t-shirts, or "Chicks don't know Jacque about patriots", or "Peace on the Dixie Chicks" (try it out loud); chanting "BUSH" or singing the chorus of "God Bless the USA" between sets (since we know how they appreciate free speech).

I did my bit by writing a useless email to their merchandiser and Sony Music (?) last night. But you do wonder if it was just this one dimwit popping off or was she speaking for the other two. Unfortunately, boxloads of tickets have already been sold but if Ms. Pasdar meets picketers at every venue and the T-shirts and memorabilia don't move at the concerts the Dixie Chicks will have learned a harsh lesson. Their fifteen minutes will be shortened to only twelve and a half.

When my kids were little they would say they were sorry and I would ask them why they were sorry and got the answer "I'm sorry I got caught". The difference in them and the Blixie chix is that my kids grew up.

The paragraph at the top is incorrect. The article later in the thread makes it clear that he is 9 years OLDER than her, and has an established career as an actor. I hope she learns her lesson, comes around, and makes the proper sort of remarks FROM THE STAGE AND HEARTFELT. In part, that's cuz she comes from Lubbock, a fine town in West Texas, that's produced a good singer or two -- Mac Davis and Buddy Holly.
There's a statue in Lubbock to Buddy Holly, one of only two statues to local residents. Folks around there take their heros seriously -- if'n they lack 'em.

Iran, eh? No Shiite!;) As the Church Lady said, "Well, isn't THAT special"!

If the Blix-ie Chicks want to have any sort of career in the future, they had better dump the liberals that they surround themselves with. Better yet, maybe the two decent looking ones should dump Maines and bring back their former singer, who is truly a country music fan (for the record, I only know this because I saw a Chicks "Behind The Music" on VH1- I don't own any of their CDs). She looks better, too.

"Ms. Maines however ran her mouth and insulted a good part of her core audience, and more importantly, the radio station DJs that play their music. Opening the concert with a statement was cheap and gratuitous, playing to her probably anti-Bush audience in the UK, and she learned that hard way that words mean things."
***Bingo*** You nailed it.
Isn't it pathetic that this bimbo is so utterly cluless about their own fan base that she would make such remarks? This has to be the ultimate blonde joke!

Her brain was just "long time gone" eh? How many liberal celebrities will become casualties before we stop talking and start this war. Dubya, you're a country music fan, do something, they're droping like flies. LOL!
