Today, Secretary Powell will brief the UN Security Council regarding American intelligence that will show Iraq is not complying with UN requirements, intelligence the Iraqis say is fabricated.

In hearings on Capitol Hill, lawmakers were told by Administration officials that North Korea might sell fissile material, possibly complete Bombs, to other entities to raise cash.

Hans Blix told Iraqi officials that, while a date certain for military action has not been set, it is "five minutes till midnight," and the Iraqis had better start turning up information on arms production.

Last November, Saudi Arabia quietly provided a passport and transport to remove a woman from the United States who was supposed to have testified to a grand jury about her husbands terrorist connections.

NASA was warned nine years ago the shuttle could catostrophically fail if debris hit the vital underside area of the craft - the very scenario that is the leading idea being investigated now. NASA made some changes to the fuel tank design, but has noted the foam always "has been a pain."

And in Los Angeles, a city council meeting, which was the last for three council members who were recalled, got out of control. An amateur video has footage of the mayor clocking one of the council members with her handbag, followed by a punch.

I am much more frightened by the empty warhead we have sitting in the White House than the empty ones recently found in Iraq.

I was reading through the thread and it occurred to me to let you know something.

A certain 2LT tried to call a certain parent from an undisclosed location the other day.

The call could not go through!

I have been using the "anonymous call rejection" feature on my phone for a number of years.

My son was unable to call me for that reason.

If you have that service and you want to receive certain calls then turn off that feature!

It's ok...I fully understand....sometimes it all get so overwhelming that you really do need to step back and take a deep breath.

I think, well, I KNOW that in the past decade we have seen/experienced/carried through so much ,,,,so many ups and downs and intense emotional happenings....while historic...it can be taxing

We have caller ID, and I tend not to answer anything 'unidentified' because they tend to be nuisance calls. I'll definitely keep that in mind, when Eric leaves and answer the phone!

Thanks for those words of comfort, Guennie.

Sometimes the disconnect between head and heart takes over, but then again, tears are not always a bad thing.

We've raised 4 incredibly independent kids (our older daughter studied at Oxford two years ago, and our 16 year old went on a mission trip to Peru last summer), and usually that makes us proud and happy, but sometimes it just makes us lonely!

Thanks for keeping us updated on the Prayer Breakfast and Colin Powell's speech on C-Span. I went through his speech on the website, wow.

I found some really pretty fleece fabric, I'm going to turn the edges under and do the blanket stitch all the way around in a contrasting color of embroidery floss. I think I'll pull out a DVD to watch too, perhaps 'Persuasion' or 'Sense and Sensibility'. Kind of escapist, I know, but right now I really long for some kinder, gentler times.
