AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 738) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
FReepers and various news sources | 28 January 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 01/28/2003 4:10:27 AM PST by Neets

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Tonite, the event we have all been waiting for.

Maybe we can comment today on what we know/think OUR President will say, and dismiss the Dimocrats Pre-buttal comments from their talking point faxes/memos.

Please, all us us say a prayer for OUR President and his speech tonight, he needs our help and the best place we can go for additional help, big time, is to the Lord. Whatever President Bush is doing it is for the welfare of this nation, unlike that other jerk who soiled the oval office.

Prayers, indeed, gc!

My granddaughter is here, but so far she is still asleep! I am to give her a bottle around 2PM. She is so pretty...she's all dressed up in a cute little outfit.

I put the galumphy coon hound in the bedroom for the duration, since she could accidentally hurt the baby. The dog is not happy, but she will just have to deal with it.

"My God, Hitchens has turned into Shane."

Hi Jane, I'm headed out to do a little work on the driveway, then run a few more errands before the new snow arrives. Yes, that's a great comment.

I'm still dubious of Hitchens, but when he does get it right, he'll get my vote! If only he'd stop ranting and raving about Sister Theresa...

Amazing isn't it. The whole world knows that this President is a Man, does not talk out of both sides of his mouth and means what he says and yet, they try, knowing all the time they are up against a man, something they haven't seen from this country in a long time.

Malaysia - "The attitude towards America has never been good and the current situation is making it far worse."

Unfortunately the view of America from abroad has been heavily shaped by our major export - the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson. I imagine today Britney Spears etal.
We were sailing in Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand for a couple of years 90-91. The leaders of those countries were routinely (and in my opinion, correctly) complaining of these types of influences on their young people.
I admired the Senior Lee for his boycott of some of these products in Singapore.

However, when the Gulf War came I noticed that the predominent Islam leaders were loudly proclaiming their support for the innocent Saddam after he had been "invaded by the evil USA and Israel". Naurally we only came into contact with English speaking people but we noticed that thousands of non-english speakers were persuaded by their spiritual leaders to enlist in this "holy war against the oppressors"

God save your friends and others trying to work in this part of the world.

Thank you all for your posted & freepmailed support & prayers. It is appreciated.

In reference to #213 of the past weekend edition of ATRW, here is a review & update of our Family Member's situation as of yesterday.

As mentioned before, our Family Member is a junior officer, State Dept, stationed in Rome, was in Davos for the World Economic Forum, liasoning with Colin Powell's staff. While there, she had a small confrontation with X42.

Upon seeing a crowd coming down the hall, surrounding X42, our FM stepped out of the hall into a main room. Everyone entered the room & she continued stepping back. People were excitedly wanting their pictures made with him & shaking his hand. FM backed into a large, L-shaped, walk-in closet (I had previously said "alcove", because I couldn't really believe he would follow her to a closet!). When a woman (secy) pointed to her to come shake his hand, FM shook her head. Instead of ignoring the situation, as a normal person would do, X42 went over & stuck his head into the closet.

FM said "I'm sorry."

He said (don't quote me on this, as I don't know the words exactly) "I'm sorry for you! I spent 8 years dealing with this kind of hatred!"

She, feeling panicky, frightened, & cornered, responded "Well sir, it's still out there." She did not give her opinion of him; she merely made a factual statement.

This is when she stepped out onto a balcony & called me, upset & slightly crying.

She still had a job to do. Mortified, fighting tears, she rushed out to continue her duties.

Just after that, she called me again, really crying. A Secret Service agent had stunned her by confronting her with the accusation that Chelsea, who had just come thru the area, had said our FM had pushed her.

When FM denied it, the female agent said something like "What! Do you think Chelsea would lie?"

So, the SS has made an incident report. Our FM made some kind of statement (while she was upset & probably not thinking clearly).

She spoke to a US embassy officer in Bern, who told her that these were 3rd-string SS agents. The "1st-string" first-class SS agents would not have made a big deal of this.

She has said that it is possible that rushing down the hall, emotionally roiled with tunnel vision, she could have bumped into someone; but she doesn't remember doing so.

The most she could possibly be accused of is rudeness. You don't sic the Secret Service on someone for being rude.

She said she could understand X42 being ugly to her: that is expected of him. But what really bothered her was seeing Chelsea at the top of the stairs looking down at her, watching her being upset by the SS agent.

We all had been willing to give Chelsea some leeway. It had always bothered me when others said ugly things about her, because I thought she should be given a chance: she's young, & many kids rebel against their parents' philosophies, lifestyles, vices. Our FM had even (previously) admired the way Chelsea had worked hard to keep her family to appear as a unit. Well, no more.

When you really look at it: NOTHING HAPPENED. She tried to avoid confrontation. He pursued & cornered her. She apologized. He made a statement of emotion. She made a statement of fact.

She is back in Rome now. There is to be an inquiry. She has been told & she has agreed to not tell anybody about it for now--fellow employees nor friends.

The very LEAST that will happen is something in her file & no promotion the next time. The possibilities worsen thru career loss, damage of reputation, & worse. . .

She says she may end up coming home & getting her PhD & being a college professor--something she had not really been interested in doing.

I told her she could probably mold more minds by teaching than by being President or Secy of State.

Chelsea sounds like she is walking in her mother's footsteps. It doesn't surprise me. What a horrible thing to have happen to your FM! My sympathies...
