I have visited this over the last 5 years on a daily basis and look to it as my main source of information, these days. My daughter is Leigh Nash lead singer for an incredibly successful, cutting-edge band that crossed over from Christian music to mainstream music. She is very conservative and the band has turned down some Democratic functions. They last played at the Gov. Rick Perry's (Texas) inaguration along with Robert Earl Keen and Clay Walker. Their music is very deep and spirtual based upon the works of C.S. Lewis, Thomas Merton, and occasionally a Socialist such as Pedro Neruda (forgive them please, for their naivate as they are all under 30). However, my daugher has many opportunities and is quite willing to express the conservative view point as she has been interviewed by David Letterman - where she changed the subject to a discussion of C.S. Lewis and the derivation of the name of the band. A simply incredible moment that I will never forget. The band has an huge fan base of people of various ilks, etc.; however, they also are targeted as are other "Christian bands" and even more so due to their high profile as having had a number one hit (Kiss Me)and a new album (44 out of 39 reviews on amazon.com are 5 stars)with unworldly lyrics that are so timely. From time to time, I would like to solicit your suggestions on certain topics with an effort to make the comments concise so that they can work for Leigh in her opportunities for sound bites, etc. The band was on Jay Leno a couple of months ago and will be on David Letterman this March.

My what thin skin you have! Do you not know of sarcasm? Why do you automatically think of me as a Christian? Is this stereotyping?

Well, just to let you know, we don't believe you. We proved you are not who you say you are. You know nothing about this woman, and to top it off, you might be a really scary stalker of her.
We didn't start out that way, but you got ugly. You misspelled everything, and called us names. Not a very nice introduction to the site from someone who was formerly lurking, and who's first post is that he's the *father* of some singer he saw on Letterman.
We don't believe you, and ....well, you're kind of a sad person. Do you know Libby, the woman who's going to have RC's *baby*?

Well, I'm really going to bed after this one. Why did you not answer my post regarding MTV versus CBS, CNN, or other reviews of my daughter's record? Do you have some hidden agenda other than incontrovertible evidence of their new record's preiminence and mainstream acceptance? Why? Why?
To: I_Love_My_Husband
That is the funniest thing I have read in a long, long time. So, you are speaking for FreeRepublic? You are a moron! Good night!!
To: formershyfatboy
The Letterman stalker. Have you heard of her? Or the Madonna stalker? Have you heard of him? Or the Steven Spielberg stalker, have you heard of him?
You're in good tinfoil hat company.
Good luck to you. I hope you don't get arrested.
To: KellyAdmirer
I will get you on the guest list. Just let me know.
To: I_Love_My_Husband
Thank you for putting my daughter in the same light as Madonna, Speilburg, and Letterman, much less me. Please make sure I spelled all these words right, you anal retentive bastard.

I don't know if you are the father or not, but it's obvious you are drunk. It's also obvious that you are not a good witness as a Christian. What language! But that's probably the wine speaking, too.

I guess some Freepers like to listen rather than rant and open their mouths about things which they know very little of such as my daughter's career. What would make you think FReepers care about your alleged daughter's career? We have every reason to be suspicious. We have had several fakes and frauds over the years. If you had been reading FR for 5 years, you'd know that.

Congratulations. Always good to see a local band make it. Leigh has a very lovely voice, and they all display quite a lot of talent. I also like the fact that the previous album(don't know anything about the latest album, yet) was produced by Steve Taylor, whose presence has been sorely missed from the music scene.

Why are you so up in arms about that one song? On your profile page, you brag about loving Hole (skank heroine tramp of the century), Oasis ("while we were getting high"), etc. I think you just like to goad people.
Are you just jealous that Sixpence has been incredibly more successful than anything your "gorgeous British husband" has ever done? I've seen your posts elsewhere and you are quite gossipy - which says tons about your own personal character and serious feelings of personal inadequacy.

Mr. Fish...your nurse said for you to take your *chill pill meds*.
Did I say that Hole was a Christian band? Did I even say I was a Christian?
I noticed you freepmailed me. Weird, stalkerlike behaviour from someone who has issues with me. Don't freepmail me again, STALKER!
To: I_Love_My_Husband
Give me a break. One freepmail doesn't make one a stalker. And you tell me to take a chill pill? I freepmailed you to ask if you used to go by another name, rather than do it publicly. I preferred not to do that publicly because if I was wrong, it would have been unfair. Your freepmailed me back confirming - apparently not having read my reply to you on an open forum. No worries, I won't freepmail you again. I will keep it public.
I recognized your vitriolic obsession with hollywood / stars from a thread a long time ago. Not only do you apparently hate successful people and look for every opportunity to attack them via adolascent gossip, you clearly now have some sort of obsession with stalkers and see them around every corner. Maybe you are simply wishing one on yourself to shore up your own feelings of inadequacy from not having become a star yourself? A shrink might be able to help you overcome your paranoia and your insecurity.

Ok, I just finished send you a really LONG freepmail!
:)
To: I_Love_My_Husband
Thanks. I replied (hoping that I wasn't violating my agreement not to freepmail you). No harm done. I was coming off as a jerk.
I kind of liked that band, having never known who it was, so I was probably just defending her. After starting the thread, I downloaded a song or two and was surprised myself to see the strong Christian influence. I usually find Christian pop or rock to be exceptionally bland (as well as most pop music) and this group has a bit of an alternative feel to it. Always liked her voice. So I discovered something new.

Whoa, there bud. You still didn't answer my question - What do you want from us? And, I'm a product of public education as well - of course it was still true education, not the touchy-feely stuff that now substitutes for reading, writing and arithmetic.
Assuming you are for real, then here's what I'd suggest: subscriptions to National Review and The Weekly Standard. Both are excellent at providing timely, analytical approaches to current events issues while also providing the conservative point of view.
Since your daughter tours, have the subscriptions sent to your home and then you can periodically fed-ex several of them to her along the road. She gets a couple to read at a time - there's a lot of traveling down time in that business which makes for good reading time.
If that's impossible, then point her to National Review Online NRO - articles by Rod Dreher Rod Dreher, Victor Davis Hanson Hanson and Michael Ledeen Ledeen, Joel Mowbray (close to her age and really great investigative journalist) Mowbray are always excellent and assessible via computer. Here's the website for The Weekly Standard: The Weekly Standard
Excellent authors she might enjoy reading are of course, one of her mentors, C. S. Lewis (excellent choice, I might add), and anything written by Francis Schaeffer -- here's one that she might particularly enjoy: Schaeffer.
Most importantly, she should choose 2 or 3 Christian mentors who are supportive of her art and who she can both confide in and seek advice. I've known several Christian artists - crossing over and staying true to yourself is very challenging. It is good to have your feet rooted by setting up an accountability and learning scenario with Christians who respect you. People here will always give you opinions (like the ones above). Your job is to be honest about who you are. Trust is a very big deal.

I would suggest that if you want to be respected for being a Christian, then you should drop the foul language and personal attacks. You might also want to pick up a dictionary, as I think the word you were going for above is ignoramus.

If I weren't already married, I'd be asking for a date.
To: formershyfatboy
I'll take you up on that! I'm probably going anyway, and this will establish your bona fides with me personally, even if maybe nobody else. Kindly put Jim B. and Guest on the guestlist for the band's February 3rd show, you know where it is, appreciate it!
