AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 718) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | January 8, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 01/08/2003 4:43:04 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our fredom, die in vain!!

There is a new tact from the anti-war crowd in the news this morning. They are calling for bringing back the draft. Reps Charlie Rangel of New York and John Conyers of Michigan have two complaints: (1) the fighting force of the Nation is composed of too high a level of minorities; and (2) they believe the US would deal with Iraq peacefully if politicians knew their children would be the one's in harms way.

The Supreme Court of California has ruled that it is rape even if sex is started with the consent of both adults, but the female changes her mind after the act has actually started.

Charles Pickering has been renominated by the Bush Administration for a Federal Appellate judgeship.

And there are two new ad spots that has been designed by Arianna Huffington of the Detroit Group which suggests that SUV owners are supporting terrorists. From the New York Times:

"This is George," a girl's voice says of an oblivious man at a gas station. "This is the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The screen then shows a map of the Middle East. "These are the countries where the executives bought the oil that made the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The picture switches to a scene of armed terrorists in a desert. "And these are the terrorists who get money from those countries every time George fills up his S.U.V."

A second commercial depicts a series of ordinary Americans saying things like: "I helped hijack an airplane"; "I gave money to a terrorist training camp in a foreign country"; "What if I need to go off-road?"

At the close, the screen is filled with the words: "What is your S.U.V. doing to our national security?"

YET (!!!!), these are the very same folks that do not want us to expand our domestic sources of oil by drilling in ANWR. They should sit down and shut up, because they are hypocrites - each and every one of them. Why? Because it matters not what vehicle you drive, a portion of the fuel can be argued to have come from Saudi Arabia - so they are just as guilty following their line of reasoning.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Lysie, for your birthday I'm taking you on a quick round-the-world tour. We're flying super-economy so can't afford to touch down in any major cities. Hope you don't mind.

Your first stop will be on the Emerald Isle. Take your time and enjoy this scenic ancient castle. Smell the sea fog and run your hand along this old stone wall. Enjoy!

OK, time to reboard.

Your next stop is this Grecian beach on the Mediterranean. Feel the sand in your toes and listen to the seagulls as you stroll the seaside in the sunshine. Take a nap, Lysie, but be sure to use sunscreen.

Ready to go on?

Our next stop is this vineyard in South Africa. Enjoy the perfect weather and sample the wines produced here. Go ahead, take a bottle home as a souvenir. It's a birthday gift from the winery.

OK, fasten your seatbelt for your next stop.

Here we are in Japan. Smell the cherry blossoms as you sip Japanese tea in the peaceful surroundings of this Japanese garden.

Ready for your last stop?

I can tell that your Grecian tan is starting to fade. A bit of snorkeling in Fiji ought to take care of that. Shake hands with the fish and other sea animals...but watch out for the jellyfish. Afterwards, enjoy fresh seafood hot off the coals.

OK, now we're headed home.

Oh no! We're low on fuel. Fortunately we're passing right over your house. Quick! Strap on this parachute and jump!

Whew! Made it safely back home!

Hope you enjoyed your round-the-world tour today, Lysie. Happy Birthday!

What in the heck has Johnny Cochrane been smoking now? Shall we just put him in charge of the NFL and see how long it takes him to drive it into oblivion?

Lepton asked a question about Senator Byrd on a thread last night .......which lead me to start doing some research. It seems the Senator lied about the length of his involvement with the KKK...

Read this and you decide...

The Senator Wore White

And then there is Robert C. Byrd, Democratic senator from West Virginia (and George Mitchell's predecessor as Senate Majority Leader). He voted against the nomination of new Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas on October 15th on grounds (among others) that Thomas had "mounted his own defense" during his nomination hearings "by charging that the [Senate Judiciary] committee proceedings were a high-tech lynching of uppity blacks." Byrd branded it "an attempt to fire the prejudices of race hatred."

Senator Byrd has first-hand knowledge of racism. When he was running for Congress in 1952, his campaign was nearly derailed when a tough primary opponent revealed that Byrd had once belonged to the Ku Klux Klan. During a subsequent radio broadcast, Byrd acknowledged that he had been a member of the Klan from "mid-1942 to early 1943" because he was young (24) and because it "offered excitement." But he claimed: "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan."

Byrd, who was praised for his "candor" and "forthrightness" regarding the issue, won the primary handily to secure the Democratic nomination. But just prior to the final election, a letter surfaced (in Byrd's own handwriting) which confirmed that his association with the Klan had been far more cordial, for a far longer time, than he had claimed. Dated April 8, 1946 (three years after his alleged break with the Klan), the letter was addressed to Klan Imperial Wizard Samuel Green of Atlanta. It stated in part: "I am a former kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County and the adjoining counties of the state .... The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia .... It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state of the Union. Will you please inform me as to the possibilities of rebuilding the Klan in the Realm of W. Va .... I hope that you will find it convenient to answer my letter in regards to future possibilities."

So the same Robert Byrd who railed against Clarence Thomas for raising the spectre of racism and lynching was actively promoting the Klan years after he told voters he had severed all ties with it. He was nevertheless elected, as he has been six times since.

Clearly, when it comes to the Ku Klux Klan, the Democrats now pillorying Republicans about David Duke have a full hamper of their own dirty bedsheets. Admittedly, the former memberships of other public officials in the Klan should have absolutely no bearing on the significance of Duke's recent membership. But history shows that major media exposures of "racism" can be very selective. In the media's eyes, not every Klansman is the same.

MM.....Thank you. What a sweetheart you are!! Now you made me cry. You happy? *grins*

You have no idea what this vacation means to me. I appreciate that you took the time to put such a lovely gift together for me. Thank you.

I told you all in an earlier post how we (ATRW) probably know more about each other than some of our own family members. Many Happy Birthday well wishes today from all of you. Thank you.

Let's see. How many from my family. :-)...Hubby...daughter and son....yes, yes, and yes. Hmmmm! My sister-in-law wrote me an e-mail this a.m.(Something she does, perhaps, twice a year)...Nope no Birthday greeting from her. That's ok. Let's try the mailbox. Ha!!! A birthday wish....from my hearing aid people. LOL

None from Dad and his wife, my Uncle and his wife. My m-i-l..nope. (That one is ok, 'cause she forgot her own son's) LOL

See? You people ARE like family...sometimes even better. :-)

Now, before all you start feeling bad for me... don't. I'm fine with it all...really. My reason was to express how much we at ATRW mean to each other.

Bless you and thank you.

Hold onto your hats!!! I would like to introduce myself:

Heeerrrrrrreeeeeeee's, lysie.

Taken pre-Atkins. See the chubby cheeks.
