We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave member of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Reuters is reporting that North Korea warned that if sanctions are imposed against it for its nuclear weapons development program, it will mean war.
The Washington Times is saying the troop buildup is moving along in such a way that a February attack against Iraq could be ordered by the President.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Government announced it is building two defense rings around Baghdad. The outer ring is composed of regular Iraqi army and Republican Guards. The Iraqis expect that defense line cannot be held, so they have built an inner line, composed of "Special Republican Guards." (This is the first such mention of these units I have come across - wonder if that was because of the miserable showing of the "vaunted" Republican Guards in the 1991 war. Wonder if these "Special" units will do any better.) The Iraqi Government says it is upon this defense line the American army will break.
Stateside - Dick Gebhardt announced he will not run for any more Congressional terms after his time in the 108th Congress is over.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
LET'S ROLL!!!
How'd you weather that winter snow that fell yesterday? (it only got up to about 60 degrees or so down here yesterday, so it was a bit chilly, but, as I am always thankful for....no snow!!!)
Have a great day!
I'm taking a necessary break from FR for a bit.
I'm feeling a little fragile right now....
..and realize I don't run well with the big dogs.....
...(& thoroughly mixing my metaphors or whatever)...
..because I'm too thin skinned.
I really thank you Chairman, kayak, Coopster, Jane & Neets....for your posts yesterday on that other thread, and for your kindness & support.
By nature, I try to stay away from combative folks, but that dig at my dear President just pushed my buttons.
...and it hurts my feelings to hear my friends called names, or heck, hear myself called names!!!!
So, I need to regroup......and chill out :)
Love to all.....Guennie
I can't. Our wonderful employee cafeteria has once again - it does this every once in a while - decided they would open without having coffee available.
I thought your defense of the President yesterday was admirable, especially because you are not by nature combative. You did well, and deserve a break!
The President's economic speech will be at noon today, according to Fox. There was some confusion about this yesterday, and I didn't want you to miss it.
Take care of yourself.
((Hugs))
HALLELUJAH!!!!!
Take care (((Guenevere))).

Good morning everyone....winter wonderland here...
Wow...that should be enough to start a revolt among the employees...or at the very least, cancel the work day until coffee is available! (I don't function well without coffee...heck, I sometimes don't function too well with it either!!!)
Our cats were boarded last week, and the vet gave me a call about our older cat: he recommended some tests as she had lost weight.
The results were in yesterday, and he called to tell me that a high calcium level indicated probable cancer...her organs were still in good shape, and no mass could be detected...
But I ruled out further tests, x-rays and so forth....
Glad that the boys have just seen her, given her lots of attention and love. She is 16+ years old, and we'll just have to take it day by day.
She has been a precious addition to our family, and a HUGE benefit to John especially in his growing up years.
AMERICAS WAR ON TERROR Day 484
The news as reported in The Washington Times:
[Note All links go to The Washington Times website.]
1. President Bush has said there will be dialogue with North Korea.
[I have to trust the President on this one. I worry we may get rolled on the nuclear issue.]
Bush promises talks with N. Korea
2. US Intelligence confirms the Iraqis are building a double-layer defense ring around Baghdad.
[Itll do them no good. If you control the skies, you win.]
Saddam sets up defenses around Baghdad
3. The troop buildup in the Persian Gulf region will give the President the option of ordering an attack in February.
[Tick, tock, tick, tock.]
Troop buildup in Gulf enables Bush to order attack
4. On the prospect of more tax cuts for Americans, the stock market rallied yesterday.
[Time for another muffler!]
Stimulus proposal propels stocks
5. Meanwhile, the Criminal Party offered a stimulus package of their own, which was one-sixth the size of the Presidents. It offers $600 tax rebates to married couples.
[Hmm. I thought the Criminal Party didnt particularly care to underwrite and encourage marriage. No matter. Lets do like the last time all this rolled around. Lets take the Presidents package AND add the rebate on top of it.]
Democrats map cuts of $100 billion
6. NASA is testing a jet taxi program that would use small jets to link the Nations roughly 5,400 small airports. These small planes would carry three or four passengers between small airports on demand.
[Why is the Government involved in something like this? If it is needed and can be made economically viable, the private sector will do it.]
NASA tests 'jet taxi' program to connect airports
7. Fairfax police have raided some bars and removed patrons who were excessively drunk.
[Commonwealth law has a quirk here establishments with liquor licenses are defined in statute as public places, giving the right to the authorities to conduct such operations and arrest people for public drunkenness.]
Fairfax cops hit bars to cite suspected drunks
We shall not rest until we have cut a swath 60-miles wide through the entire left - taking all that is before us with us as we go. We shall leave nothing to the enemy that may be of value to him. We shall show him that he may count on nothing and will be able to keep nothing, not his spirit, not his soul, not that upon which he shall feed. We shall not cease until the moment we have rent through their entire land and have arrived at the sea, with our glorious victory upon us.

It is beginning to sound that way, kassie...
Nuclear blackmail is exactly where we DON'T want to end up with Iraq...
